Best potato salad recipe ever!

Bought for my mom as a Christmas gift. I live in a heavily Amish area of Pennsylvania. I am not a cookbook person but this was a brilliant read that I enjoyed very much. The stories and pictures painted a wonderful mental image to set the ambiance for those intangibles behind each recipe: home, hearth, family, love, and faith.

its ok but not as great as I thought, needs more recipes.

I love this book! Not only are there a lot of basic, family friendly recipes to try but many of them have a note by Lovina making them personal. Much like being sent a recipe card from a friend who writes a little note on how her family likes the recipe. The photos are gorgeous. I have a few of Lovina's cookbooks but this is my favorite.

I've read Lovina Eicher's weekly column for years enjoying the accounts of her life, her family, plus her recipes. Her latest cookbook is that and more as the beautiful photographs illustrate not only the food, but also show us a glimpse of the daily life of the Amish. The descriptions make this reader want to make each recipe right now! The book more than meets my expections.

I just opened my cookbook. What a beautiful book. I've been reading about Lovina's family for years. I was lucky to be able to go to a book signing of her mother, Elizabeth's. I'm not worried about the recipes, from past experience they will be wonderful. I've never had a bad recipe from the Elizabeth,Lovina or the girls.

Unfortunately this has more recipes for veggies or big gatherings than amish recipes. We did like 3 of them. It wasn't what I thought with good old fashioned recipes.
