Yes, you can. Some users have used it this way before.

Q: Is there anyway to make a 6 ft table cloth fit a 4 ft table?

It wont have the same tension as a six foot table, but yes, you can put it on there and fold away the excess. For best appeal, I’d get a 4 foot table cloth.

Q: Will letters with adhesive on the back stick to it?

I don't see why they would not adhere to the material...but I'm not sure that I would advise it as it is very stretchy (as designed). Which means that trying to lay it out to place your letters would be challenging - and every time you stretch it over the table it is going to pull. I prefer to clip my business name/info to the front of the table; it allows me to modify it if necessary between event. Also take into consideration that whatever you adhere would need to be washable. I love that the cloth is anchored by the table legs...but it means that it is on the floor/ground and needs an occasional run through the washer/dryer.
