Great bat for intermediate players - full marks
Bought this bat for my son who started playing at the TT club at school. We've had a TT table for a while at home, but only starting playing seriously a few months ago.I researched a wide range of bats from various brands, including Palio, Joola and Butterfly. In the end I went for the Sanwei, as it had the best price / performance ratio. Plus it came with a very handy case.Pros:1. The rubbers! They're very grippy without being tacky. Really great balance. Plus a state of the art 2 mm sponge. I found these rubbers the best to play with among the various bats we have at home. I also like how the backhand (black) rubber is different to the forehand rubber, ie slower and providing more control (though I doubt we're at the level where we can notice a massive difference).2. Blade: 5-ply is totally fine at this level. No need for more than that, including carbon etc. Again, I doubt anyone but pros will be able to notice the difference, and this is already quite an offensive blade as it is.3. Protection: there is a full-height tape around the circumference of the bat, and the case it comes with is well padded.Cons:There aren't really any at all - it's a great all-round paddle. The only thing to note is that it's not the lightest (but not the heaviest either). At about 185g it's about 10g heavier than a comparable Palio Evolution.Sanwei as a brand is not (yet) in the same class as Joola, Butterfly, Stiga etc. of course. But we've had a lot of fun with this bat, and my son wouldn't trade it for anything now.
