Fit perfectly
The old ones pulled out that assist the RV bed lift. These attach to the (soft) wooden framing much better than the originals and should last longer. Not modification was necessary, just out with the old and in with the new.

So the 4 out of 5 is my disappointment in having to manipulate them
These didn't quite fit my application. I had to manipulate some bends into the bracket to get it to work. So the 4 out of 5 is my disappointment in having to manipulate them. However, the strength of these brackets is impressive! A very well made product.

Robust Gas Shock Bracket
I used this product for a custom install of a gas shock into a lift top bench. This bracket worked perfect for mounting and has held up well over the last few weeks. This was installed in an outdoor environment and is subject to water and moisture. The finish out of the package was in good shape and I don't see any reason it wont hold up for a long time. The only issue I had with this bracket is that the mounting flange was rather thin. Probably not a big deal if you are replacing an existing mounting bracket on a car or a metal surface, but when attached to pressure treated wood with 1" screws this tending to rack a little as the lid was opened and closed. I installed 3" screws and this helped a bit, but I am still concerned that it may loosen up over time. Again, not the fault of the product, just my application.

Heavy duty for Suspa 28 lb struts.
I ordered these struts & brackets to support a wooden storage box lid on my homebuilt kayak trailer. The 46" x 24" 20lb lid opens from from horizontal to vertical & is hinged on the long side. Using the 10mm Ball Stud brackets from API the struts were easy to install once I figured out the correct location to mount the brackets. The Ball Stud Brackets are heavy duty & should outlast the life of the Struts. I used to use a piece of wood to prop open the lid but now I just give a slight lift to open the lid a couple of inches and the struts slowly open it the rest of the way to about 80 degrees. To close it only takes easy an downward push. The struts snap easily onto the ball links with no tools and remove almost as easily with a screw driver to release a clip making them very easy to replace when the time comes. These things are great and I would definitely recommend!

Works fine but not for 80 # rated Gas spring/strut
These brackets were easy to install on my utility trailer 4' ramp The only problem I had was the ball studs popped out of the bracket after using several times. The studs are inserted like a rivet and are pressed rolling the backside over to hold in place. No threads and nut to hold in place like a bolt. They should have a max spring rating on them. I have ordered some heavier made ball studs that are threaded and will bolt into place. I also tried a 120# spring on one and it bent the bracket and pulled the stud out.

Beefy construction
I needed to replace a rusty broken mounting bracket on my late 90's truck canopy. After drilling out the rivets holding in the old bracket, I was pleased to find that the holes perfectly lined up with my existing holes (original bracket was smaller and two-hole, compared to this larger 3 hole model.) Bracket holes are 3/16" and mounted nicely with that size rivet. The larger bracket did end up extending down further than the old one and actually blocks my latch from turning, but the heavy build of the bracket means that I will be able to safely grind a bit of the bracket away to allow the latch to engage without compromising the strength of the bracket itself. I am very pleased!
