I was on a 13 day restricted sugar/restricted calorie diet and ordered these with as a cheat day reward. I held the package, not even daring to open it, until my cheat day. It was absolutely not worth it. Please, do not buy this product if you want authentic li hing candy.As a local Hawaii boy living on the mainland, i was happy to hear of a local company selling li hing products on Amazon. I grew up in Hawaii and fondly remember when we had crack seed shops with scents so wonderful that I’d start salivating at the smell of li hing. However, these candies were an overwhelming disappointment. I hoped that just had one bad candy, so I opened three of the others to see if the first bag was just a fluke. Unfortunately all of the bags that I’ve opened had the same unpleasant aspartame taste. Yes, aspartame is a listed ingredient but since it’s so low on the ingredients list, I never anticipated that it’s presence would be so overwhelming. Additionally, the candies themselves are the generic equivalents of the name brand candy. Imagine off brand candy seasoned with aspartame li hing and you’ll know exactly what these candies taste like.So Amazon isn’t the answer to our every desire, especially niche ones like local Hawaiian candies. I’ve since placed an order with a mom and pop crack seed shop in hawaii, so fingers that it’a worth it!
