macOS High Sierra: The Missing Manual: The book that should have been in the box

Recommend This Reference Book
At almost 2 inches thick and 800 some pages, this is not light reading, but I've found, like most "The Missing Manual Books", this to be very good reference work. Explanations are clear and helpful, providing step by step guidance in many cases. It is not an intimidating engineering text, but a very good source of information about a complex operating system. In the rare cases it doesn't answer your questions, at least it will give you a clear enough understanding of the topic to ask intelligent questions at the Genius Bar. In the past I have bought books in this series for each Apple Operating System as I have updated to new versions, and will continue to do so. I recommend without reservation.

Fit my needs perfectly
I am a newbie when it comes to the Mac world of computers and needed a GREAT manual to get up to speed on my new MacBook Pro. After reading lots of reviews about lots of possible manuals, I decided on this one and after using it for a week I am VERY impressed by the information contained in it! The presentation and the brood subjects covered are excellent and actually exceeded my expectations! For example, it explanation about how to use BootCamp helped a lot and many other publications skipped over this subject, etc.. Thank You for a great manual!

Outstanding manual for MacOS High Sierra
David Pogue is the best: this is a superb and very complete manual that is well explained and adequate for intermediate to advanced users

Feature Rich
Since I was a newbie to MacOS, I started with a simpler book but bought this book to refer to it for more information and detail. Now I am reading this book to learn more of the great features of MacOS. So far, I am very pleased with this massive book -- but it is so complete and the text is fairly easy to understand. If you are new to MacOS, I suggest reading this book after reading a simpler book to learn the basics. Then when you become familiar and competent with MacOS basics, this book is the best resource to get the in-depth features of MacOS High Sierra.

Great for both novice and experienced Mac users.
David Pogue's "Missing Manual" series is impossible to beat. Giving this to new Mac users substantially reduces the requests that I get for assistance.

The Missing Manual Series is the best
Nothing beats Pogue's computer books for clarity and inclusive coverage, and above all, readability. The layout is excellent.

Big ol' book
But it has whatever info you are looking for to help you in your quest for information. Not a quick reference like a cheat sheet but more like a real manual about what and how to get things done the way you want.

Nobody can keep up with Apple
It is a great book. The disadvantage- Apple makes you to switch to more sophisticated operating system before you manage to read it.

Very detailed so dip in and out
An in-depth and detailed look at High Sierra. I've returned to the Mac world recently and wanted to catch up with the latest developments. This book delivers and is well laid out. It would be daunting, being possibly too detailed for someone entirely new to Macs as it's huge. I have knocked off one star, as compared to the Mac Bibles of previous years, there is little mention of other software and comparison with non-Apple products. It's probably best read when you need an OS question answered, rather than reading it in sequence.

It does what it says on the tin!
The title says it all. This book tells you how to do all the little gritty things you occasionally come across that other publications don’t approach

Good Handbook
When all else fails, read the book! Says me, a retired lawyer who ran his small trial law practice on his own supped up Dell for 20+ years. But I’ve switched to Apple products, and somehow nothing is as simple as it seems. This manual is helping with my learning curve. It’s great sitting next to my new iMac on Kindle. Recommended.
