Bought this to find where a visiting cat ( uninvited!!) had peed - found the spot at my first attempt so was able to clean up more easily without soaking the whole carpet - very handy to have as I have 2 cats of my own and seem to feed many more who come uninvited into my home - - also my grandson was fascinated to see how it worked - and now pays CSI when he visits!!

The actual peak wavelength is 375-385nM, and there is quite some white light as well(probably for the user to know it is on).

Most UV torches I've encountered on Amazon emit very little, if any, UV light. However, this product does what it says in the product description. Just like the squints on 'Bones' or the tech's on CSI you can use this light to check various parts of your home - every single 'accident' our dogs have had remains visible for years. Red wine drops from long-forgotten spillages spring to life. Fluorescent minerals glow in strange colours. A gin & tonic becomes a glass of blue fire and diet Coke suddenly transforms into a cloudy bevarage that looks like swamp water.Yes, it is more expensive than most of the other search hits - but that's because this is the real thing, not some cheap imitation.

Initially i was reasonably pleased with this torch although i expected much better quality for the money it cost.Having had this a few months it has become more and more unreliable.. The contact springs inside the torch are too small and the inner one is offset to one side so it keeps going out as i move about with it. I keep having to tap it to make it work. I used it last week and it barely work at all, flickering when it did, so have now consigned it to the dustbin!Save yourself some money, Don't waste it on this torch!

Average construction, beam power isn't as great as I had hoped, uv detector works well. Ideal for small occasional use only.

I bought this torch because 2 out of my 6 cats has been diagnosed with ringworm. Ringworm glows apple green under this type of UV light and this torch helped me find the spores and also outbreaks in 3 of the other cats. Cheaper than going to the vets for them to look with a Woods lamp and then to charge you £29 per cat for looking!. It's also been invaluable for following their treatment progress. I only wish the medicine to treat the ringworm was this good value! Highly recommended.

Sadly previous reviews were right as it isn't very effective at revealing 'little accidents' by one of my cats. It did reveal certain parts of the design of carpet by fluorescing them, but I'd have been cheaper getting a 'black light' bulb if that was the effect I wanted.I definitely WOULDN'T recommend it
