THORNE Berberine, Dual Action Phytosome & HCl Formula, 60 Capsules

I'm currently on my second bottle of Thorne Berberine and felt it was time to share my experience. After finishing my first bottle, my cholesterol had dropped by 42 points, which was a fantastic outcome. I do want to be completely transparent: I did not rely solely on berberine. Along with taking this supplement, I made several lifestyle changes, including cutting back on certain foods, increasing my daily movement, and making a conscious effort to drink more water. I believe the combination of these changes contributed to my success. I'm a big fan of Thorne products, and this supplement fit seamlessly into my existing stack. I initially took 2 capsules in the morning, then switched to 1 in the morning and 1 around 3 PM. After some experimentation, I found the best results came from taking 1 capsule first thing in the morning and the second a few hours before bed. In addition to the improvement in my cholesterol numbers, I've also lost 8 pounds, experienced more energy throughout the day, noticed that my food noise and cravings have significantly decreased, and my sleep quality has improved. My resting heart rate while sleeping has also improved, which was an unexpected bonus. Another positive for me is that I've experienced no negative side effects whatsoever. One important note: this is not a quick fix, and it's definitely not a magic weight-loss supplement. If you're looking for an effortless shortcut, you'll likely be disappointed. Be responsible, focus on improving your diet, staying active, and building healthy habits. In my experience, berberine worked best as a tool that supported those efforts, not as a replacement for them. Based on my results so far, this has earned a permanent spot in my routine, and I'll continue purchasing it. Highly recommended when paired with realistic lifestyle changes and consistency.

This was recommended to me by both an MD and an acupuncturist, and honestly, I’m grateful they did. Berberine works on some of the same pathways as metformin — AMPK activation, blood sugar regulation, liver and gut glucose handling — all that science‑y stuff that makes your body behave. Now for the Donna part. I cannot take metformin. I get what they lovingly call disaster pants. Absolutely not. Hard pass. My blood sugar has been out of control for months — and I mean out of control. My Libre graph looked like my glucose was trying to reach the International Space Station. Just living up in the 300s like it pays rent there. Two weeks after taking two capsules twice a day with meals, my blood sugar dropped to 159. Is it perfect? No. Is it in the green? YES. And after months of chaos, that feels like a miracle. I’m not taking anything else — just eating more often (turns out not eating enough was part of my problem) and keeping carbs low. I can see the difference Berberine is making. Literally. On the graph. Approximately one week later, be generous and say two weeks I'm down in the green 167!! That is amazing! I struggled for months with extremely high blood sugar as shown on the graph. I'm on a roll! And the best part? No side effects. None. Zero. My stomach is finally living its best life. Also, who knew metformin can deplete B12? I sure didn’t. I was taking B12 shots — and let me tell you, that needle is not small. It’s the kind of needle that makes you rethink your life choices. I don’t need them anymore. My levels are holding steady without them, and I am thrilled. Berberine is working beautifully for me. It’s gentle, effective, and doesn’t come with any drama. Just steady improvement and a whole lot of relief.

I thought I'd try this after extensive research-- escalating health problems have been putting weight on for years while creating energy and illness issues that made it impossible to be consistent with good diet and daily exercise. I read all the reviews so I knew to take it with food. Some minor gas/discomfort, but very manageable, and I noticed very quickly that I felt full on very little food. On the second day it was clearly affecting my sleep patterns -- I no longer wake multiple times in the night, and am appropriately tired at bedtime. My energy is up and stable, and best of all, my exercise tolerance radically increased-- I want to exercise and can now exercise vigorously on long walks (something I have been unable to do for quite a while without pain & exhaustion) and can do a long fast walk and make it up 3plus flights of stairs-- I haven't been able to do that for years without feeling like I would pass out. I am able to eat a very lo cal diet without cravings or hunger, and in one week, my weight is down 4 lbs. Something threw my metabolism off 20 years ago & it escalated into a whole variety of bad issues that looped on each other-- this is fixing whatever is at the core of it. I heartily recommend you try it. (I have added a good quality probiotic to it, and take it with yogurt or kefir-- the research I read said that improves the positive effects.)

I was skeptical about the effectiveness of Berberine. However, after I’ve read multiple randomized controlled studies about the effectiveness of Berberine in management of Diabetes type 2, I’ve decided to order it for my mom. She has been battling DM2 for 30+ years with metformin. Around 2 years ago, she decided to completely change her lifestyle (mind you she is 60 y.o.) and give Ketogenic diet a try. For about a year she was doing great; lost 10 lbs, sugar was somewhat under control w/o metformin, but continuously lingered between 105 - 120 am/pm. So, I started her on Berberine 500 mg, 3 X day. She’s been taking 1 cap in am w/breakfast, and 2 caps w/dinner; total 1500 mg/day. She just had her A1C checked 2 days ago and her doctor couldn’t believe the results; it went down from 6.2 to 5.2! So, Thorne Berberine works! It did cause mild side effects from taking it, but nothing she can’t tolerate (e.g. intermittent nausea which doesn’t last long). In addition, she lost a few more pounds of fat and says that she is feeling great. She also had her lipid panel done, so I’m waiting to review her cholesterol to see if Berberine had impact on her LDL and triglycerides. I can’t say if other brands work as well as Thorne b/c she never tried anything else. I’ve been debating which one to order, but I’ve always trusted Thorne and it helped me to narrow my choice. now, it’s on ‘auto ship’ on Amazon :) P.S. She has what’s known as Down Phenomenon, which a very common condition among those w/DM2 ; hormonal up regulation of blood sugar throughout the night, that results in higher BG in AM; for that reason she takes 2 caps w/dinner and so far her am BG stays under a 100. Generally her daily BG ranges from upper 80’s - 90’s in AM to 80’s in PM. WARNING: if you are taking ANY prescription medications, especially blood thinners, PLEASE PLEASE talk to your provider before adding Berberine. Although, it’s technically a herbal supplement, it CAN cause potentially DEADLY drug interactions.

Top quality Brand but way too expensive. only a 15 supply of tablets for $44!!! Looking for a lesser cost product with similar strength and efficacy.

It’s my second time purchasing this product. Does not cause any side affects though I’m unsure if helping to reduce glucose.

DIFFERENT,LOW QUALITY, BIOENGINEERED FORMULATION This is not the same formulation. This is no longer a natural product. The active ingredient (barberry root) has been cut by more than half and replaced by phytoestrogens; high omega 6 fillers; and a diluted, opaque, commodified, and bioengineered phantom product far from actual barberry. First I noticed the color of the pill on this reorder was different. Then I noticed that I didn’t feel the immediate effect. (I have been taking this for the last few years. I use it moderately and it’s been highly effective.) That’s when I compared bottles and realized this was an entirely different formulation. (See pics: original excellent high potency extract formulation is on left; what you get now is on the right). DANGEROUS LACK OF TRANSPARENCY I ordered this from my recurring order history. That means this was not posted on Amazon as the new product that it actually is. They slid it in the former product’s slot as if it were always this way. This means the new lesser formulation gets the high rating of the prior, and it also means people like me on reorder get something different *without warning*. Deceptive and dangerous. ACTION ITEMS I do not appreciate the lack of transparency nor the poorer quality product. This WILL be returned. Thorne has lost a loyal long-standing customer. And I have suggested to Amazon that they do the right thing and discontinue the old product record and clarify that this is a different product altogether! If you’re reading this, I suggest you do the same. UPDATE Amazon refunded me without issue. They are pretty good with that and no complaints there. The product listing however has not been updated and a glance of other online suppliers & recent reviews shows the same issue. I conclude then it is Thorne pushing a revised product w/o notice even to the distributors. If you are reading this and also dissatisfied by the inferior product and shady lack of transparency, I suggest you also insist on refund for this product. Money talks. Amazon & Thorne will listen when it hurts their bottom line.

41/F 5ft 155 lbs started at 164 2 weeks ago. I have tried so many diets, so many pills over the last 20+ years and nothing has ever worked! I worked on my mind, and had psychological help, but the food noise and cravings were always there! Every week I would make new promises to myself, only to break them again on the weekend. I felt so trapped and just wanted to give up. I looked into things like ozympic and other Glp1 medicines, but they were too expensive. I came upon a post online talking about berberine and how it was comparable to glp1s. So I ordered a bottle off Amazon, I took it for several days and gave up... But then recently I was revisiting the glp1 discussion to see if it had gotten any cheaper, I came across posts that raved about berberine, and one particular user said nothing worked for them until they tried the Thorne brand, others agreed, so I ordered my 1st bottle. This is my experience, and im not exaggerating: The difference was immediate, by the very 1st day the food noise shut off! I dont know if that's how others experienced their first day, but for me it was immediate! And then during the 1st week I noticed more changes; food cravings were gone! I could take a taste of something sweet and walk away and forget about it! The taste didnt even linger! My physical changes around food changed drastically too! When I am about to eat something tasty my pupils don't dilate anymore, my heart doesn't race, I don't salivate, I basically don't have that addiction response anymore! It makes me feel like I have always JUST eaten! I don't even think about food until I am physically hungry! I think this must be how a thin person feels, I don't have the emotional or psychological attachment to food anymore, at first I was a little sad because for 40 years food has been a huge part of my life. I just went and had an ice cream cone, I asked for 1 scoop because that's all I wanted, I didnt want to eat a lot of sweet. My brain did not light up at all! I dont have spikes and crashes in my blood sugar levels anymore.... But I think this medication does more than just that, I think it does something else to the body besides regulate blood sugar, because it shuts down the food noise, if anything I have more of an aversion to sweets. So this has been my experience so far. I started it October 12th. 1 pills with breakfast and 1 with dinner. I will try to come back and update next month.

I recommended this to my friends who also suffers with PCOS. Helped me a lot, I had PCOS since 2017 gained so much weight and tried many products, I also tried many diets but nothing helped. I initially tried a bottle gifted by a friend before I purchase mine here in amazon, took this for 3 months last year and scheduled an ultrasound, surprisingly my PCOS was reversed last year.Maybe that’s a combination of proper diet, and gym but this supplement also helped.
