Seedling Starters
I bought this set because of the bottom tray. If handled gently, the tray can be used next year and I will only need the peat pots. The set was pricey, but super easy to use. I filled the peat pots with starter soil, set them in the tray, added the seeds and water, put a layer of saran wrap over the top, and set the tray in a sunny window. After the seedlings sprouted, the saran wrap was removed. I was planting petunia seeds and didn't need such deep pots but they came with the kit. Almost all of my seedlings survived and were planted outside when the weather had no further chance of frost. I now have bounty of beautiful petunias.

OK
I've used Jiffy pots in the past and thought these would work well for our new garden. Price-wise it's a great deal. I planted seeds in Jiffy brand seeding medium and they sprouted OK - I transplanted the plants into the garden and at the same time planted more seeds directly in the garden soil. The transplants seemed to have a hard time getting started while the seeds took off and surpassed the transplants that were easily 3-4 weeks older. As an example I have 6 pepper plants that are roughly 4 weeks old from sprouting in the Jiffy pots that are less than 6" tall while another 4 plants that were planted 3 weeks ago directly in the garden soil are a full foot tall - all from the same seed packet. I'm pretty sure the roots are root bound in the pots and even though they are supposed to degrade they are not. I just transplanted a tray full of herbs and this time I broke up the jiffy pots before transplanting. Maybe this will help the plants establish.

would be better if some suggestions for home gardener were included.

I would recommend this product for a cheap seed starter set up
This product worked well for all of my starts in the greenhouse. A few of the pots had a portion of the bottom broken off, but since they are so small anyways, it just left a little bit more space for the roots to grow out through the bottom. The black plastic tray is made of very thin and flimsy plastic, so I put each tray on a small piece of plywood for support while moving them from the greenhouse to the garden. I had no issues with it breaking, but I have only re-used the black plastic tray once. I would recommend this product for a cheap seed starter set up, but I am not sure how many times you could re-use the plastic tray before it breaks.

Excellent for plants that transplant poorly, or tap-rooted species
Love the deeper root profile while allowing more plants per square foot.Excellent for plants that transplant poorly, or tap-rooted species

Flimsy
These are way too flimsy to use. I ended up using them as dividers for my pellets, but I would have been better off getting a pellet tray. Awful value compared to going to your hardware store.

Just ok
Sorry this is very flimsy and won’t fit in a standard flat that it would need to not drain everywhere. for growing your veggies I would go another route. For my use ok I have a short growing season and need to start corn indoors which doesn’t like transplant I can let them germinate just before planting time and shortened my season a couple of weeks

Extremely flimsy without peat pots in
The peat pots are what you would expect. However the "tray" the pots sit in is almost as thin as a plastic bag when the pots are not in place. I had difficulty getting one tray out from the ones beneath. I wouldn't want to store the plastic tray without pots in, inside another as I am not sure I could get them apart without tearing the tray.
