How to open it to put batteries? It seems almost impossible to open.

For some reason, when I received the remote, the back cover was rather easy to remove. All I did was pry one side a little upward and pressed down and up on the bottom of the back cover and it opened so I could install the batteries.

Will it operate my Sonos sound bar via IR?
