I add the contents of one capsule when making low carb yogurt, along with powdered Bulgarian yogurt (Lactobacillus Bulgaricus and Streptoccus Thermophilus). L. plantarum also digests galactose, further reducing the overall carbs. (Because there are so few carbs left it can be fairly tart, so I use stevia extract to each batch.) I expect one bottle will last for years since I only refresh my starter after several cycles.Edit - Cautions: I have tried multiple ways to find out what strain(s) are being used. I'm not finding anything in labeling, comments, reviews, or on their web site. I've also tried a couple of times to submit a question to the company via their web site with no response. This tells me they either don't know or don't care. Ignorance and/or apathy are not good traits for a supplements company, so I've lowered my overall rating based on that.

Used for making a sour beer! I used about 1 pill per gallon and it sours a LOT faster than using Goodbelly probiotic drinks. The PH dropped from 5.5 to 3.4 in 20 hours. I'll use it again next time but denature before it gets too sour!
