He’s surly, self-centered, rude, and uptight—but he’s the only doctor in town. Martin Clunes stars as Doc Martin, a hotshot London surgeon forced to change careers when he develops a fear of blood. Relocating to a sleepy, scenic Cornish fishing village, he offends everyone in town and falls in love with a beautiful teacher. This set is sure to make any fan of the show laugh for years to come. Included are eight surly seasons + the movies which started it all. The die hard fans will also appreciate the treasure of special features, cast biographic, deleted scenes, and interviews which are scattered throughout the 8 seasons.

Quirky and hilarious.
Bought this because it disappeared off Prime. I think it was Prime...may have been Netflix. Anyway, it was no longer available, so I bought it. The show got a rating of MA, which made me nervous because I don't appreciate language and nudity, but I gave it a chance. I've discovered the rating system is somewhat inconsistent. This show is pretty clean, so I can only guess the MA rating was for blood (not gore), which is integral to the entire story-line, and one scene in one episode where Martin walks in on his Auntie Jean engaged with a younger man. There's no nudity (thankfully), but there's no question what's going on. Aside from this, I really enjoyed the show. Haven't watched the movies yet.

Fantastic show!
I was hesitant about starting Doc Martin because I don’t typically like medical shows. If you’re in the same boat, don’t let that put you off! This is a series about people, with wonderfully developed characters played by brilliant actors. The writers take their time developing the people and the stories and all I can say is, I don’t ever want to leave Portwenn!

Modern day doctor-curmudgeon in Cornwall
Doc has landed in a small town in Cornwall which meets small town standards of friendliness, lack of privacy, caring about each other and helping out. Doc has excellent medical skills but severe lack of people skills which often puts him at odds with just about everyone. Over time, we learn why that problem exists, and how the town begins to "live with him". This isn't what I consider a sit-com but provides plenty of laugh out loud situations. The series is beautifully filmed, a small town on a rugged hillside above the ocean. We truly enjoy this intelligent story.

Mom Loved It
So, I felt that this purchase was too pricey, but my mom mentioned before her hip surgery that she loved this show, so I bit the bullet and bought the set. She's now watched the entire series and absolutely loved it. Bonus - she's still got the 2 movies that were included to watch. Now that I look at them, I guess we should've watched those first, because I think they take place before the series started. But who cares, it's a fun show. Enjoy!

This is a good price for a lot of Doc Martin movies series plus movies
A couple of the series had a few pauses and messed up but not bad and I did not enjoy the movie as much as would have as I did not expect to see a couple having sex in bed in the movie. I enjoy the Doc Matin series and have for years and this set was very affordable and the added with movies but not aware of people in bed having sex in it and with family members who enjoy the series it really was disappointing to be caught off guard like that. I would have done without the movies if I would have known that was in it as the movies were not that good and the Doc Martin series has always been one of our family favorites. The price value was good but could omit the movies that came along with it

Love this series- Unique, incredibly moving, and just plain wonderful.
We love this series so much. It’s really special and we’re grateful to have it we will probably watch it over and over. Just like we do with As Time Goes By, One very concerning thing is that the DVDs seem to have a stop- problem where they pause for sometimes short, sometimes longer. Other DVDs we have purchased don’t pause like this- so we’re not sure if it is our older TV or this particular set of DVDs. :-(

Great Series
We've watched Doc Martin up through Season 4, but it's been a few years. Do we started over now that we have all 9 seasons. It's good entertainment, but if I were the minister in charge of health for Great Britain I'd send somebody to Portwenn to find out why a town of 700 people has so many people having near-death experiences every week.
