BEST solution for making more than one cup
Love it. Have an Aero-press which has been my go to device for years (and I still use it constantly) but I like the filter machine for a change -plus the AP is a pain for more than one coffee.Jug keeps the coffee hot for a loooong time (well into the afternoon from an 8am brew.I found the flavour is kept well:-Firstly the filter paper method means you have no coffee grounds sitting in the jug (however slowly, traces of grounds in a coffee pot will keep brewing and add bitterness over time).-Secondly, as it does not rely on a heating element to keep it warm you avoid the risk of the coffee at the bottom of a jug being overheated which I suspect happens in all but the most accurately controlled (i.e. expensive) models that rely on a heater -In my experience coffe in these machines, no matter how nice when freshly brewed, is disgusting after a hour. [Insulated jug is also much more energy efficient ;-) ]Would recommend!Only read on if you wish to be even more bored....The knob at the top to adjust intensity seems pointless to me. Difficult to see exactly how it works but basically it just seems to shut off a couple of the drippers in the centre. This has the effect of sort of brewing the coffee grounds round the edges more than the centre. It does seem to make a small difference to the strength but it's quite a crappy solution -surely you want all of the grounds brewed evenly, otherwise you're just wasting coffee? Much better, I think to just buy the roast strength you like and put in the quantity you like then have the machine brew it all evenly. After a bit of experimentation I settled on the knob being at near maximum which seems to spread the drip pattern fairly evenly. Maybe I'm missing something but strikes me as a marketing gimmick and actually diminishes the perfect AND easy pot of coffee objective -glass half empty moaning aside, it doesn't lose a point over this.

Excellent coffee maker
This is great. No electric hot plate to keep the coffee warm. Since the EU has changed the rules on electric items, the new coffee maker hot plates switch off after 20 minutes. This coffee maker's carafe is a thermos, and it really keeps the coffee warm for two hours. I love it.

Good filter coffee maker but no permanent filter
While living in Germany I got used to filter coffee makers with thermos jugs rather than a 'keep warm' facility that tends to stew the brew over time. My old model finally turned up its toes so I gave this fairly priced model a try. As a coffee maker it works fine, but with a couple of minor caveats: one the capacity is just shy of four mugs - it makes 3 and a half, so my consumption is slightly down(!) and secondly because Melitta are the kings of filter paper, it has no permanent filter. Filter papers are not expensive and make cleaning a breeze and probably produce slightly superior coffee (imho), so its not all bad. Basically a 'damn fine coffee' machine and well priced. Very satisfied.

A Thermos jug, whats not to like
I was surprised and delighted to find the drug was actually a thermos jug. So the coffee is kept warm without a hot plate. I usually make coffee just for myself one mug at a time frequently go back for a second mug this is change my habit I can now make 2 and carry the jug with me confident that coffee will still be warm enough to drink for the 2nd cup.A bonus was the pack of Melita coffee filter papers quite unexpected and very nice gesture. The machines easy-to-use I like the transparent water holder and the swingout coffee bag receptacle. I think it was a bargain for the price and I'm very pleased with it

A disappointing Coffee Brewer
Unfortunately this Melitta cofffee machine does not keep my coffee hot at all - which was the whole purpose of buying a thermos. In addition it leaks.I only started using this machine a few weeks ago but was not allowed to return it due to it being over the refund period.Very disappointed.

Good for motorhome
I already have the posher version of this with digital functions, but bought this for my motorhome as it is a bit smaller . Capacity the same, easy to empty with disposable paper filters. A brilliant machine no hot plate, coffee keeps hot, can make a pot up and take away for picnic

The original and still great
Still one of the best. Keeps coffee hot for a couple of hours in the thermo jug.

Auto Power off function and vacuum flask jug
This coffee maker is well built as you would expect from Melitta, and has a variable strength adjustment. The auto power off is slightly confusing as the heating element is first switched off when all water is put through machine, then at 7 minutes later the mechanical switch on the side is flipped off automatically. This I believe is to comply with EU regulations on power saving, max 20 mins or so, relating to the hotplate version. But as this vacuum flask version does not have a hot plate it simply prevents the machine coming back on later. I would have preferred to have seen the initial power off flip the power switch when all water has been used on this version.Overall I am happy with the machine with good build quality and the vacuum flask keeps coffee hot for 3 to 4 hours.
