Polymaker Color Changeable Starlight Purple-Green PLA 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm, Different Color by Light, Barely Visible Layer Lines - Starlight Comet 1.75 PLA Metallic 1kg

My son was interested in trying this out on my new 3d printer. Prints like a dream without stringing or clogging. The color is beautiful and we printed quite a number of things with it, with a large print-in-place articulated snake being our favorite.This filament is on a cardboard spool, which I wasn't too keen about, but there was no misalignment in the winding and no tangling. It was packed in a well-fitting dense cardboard box, and the spool was vacuum sealed with a bag of silica inside. The diameter is consistent and the color is exquisite.It is a little more expensive than many other filaments. I was an extreme newbie when I made this purchase. However, since that time I have tried a wide variety of other filaments, and this Polymaker series is extremely high-end in pigment, consistency, behavior and print results.My son loved this colorway so much that I sent it with him back home from his Christmas vacation here with it. He ordered his own printer which was waiting on him when he got back and has made lots of perfect prints with this roll of filament with no issues at all.I recently realized that I I have become pretty spoiled. I purchased some (other brand) filament a couple of weeks ago which had me thinking something was terribly wrong with my printer. In the end, it was the filament. I hadn't realized that filament quality makes a huge difference in more than just the color and quality of the prints. It can become a nuisance and cost time and money, as I went through several nozzles and replaced my Bowden tube trying to print with what I eventually discovered was some terrible filament. I changed back to a roll of Polymaker and my printer is back in the game, making great prints. I am something of a hoarder, and really do not throw things away. But I ended up throwing 98% of that terrible roll of (other name) filament into the trash. Well, I handed it to my husband and he did it. LOLAnyway, this is GREAT filament in so many ways, and totally worth every penny!

Easy to get printing with, hasn't given me any trouble, prints at high speeds/flow, looks GREAT, and very strong.

Prints nicely, does a good job at hiding layer lines. Really didn't need to dial in the filament at all on my machines either. (X1C, P1P, A1 Mini and Prusa MK4S)

I printed a giant dragon egg with this filament and it turned out amazing! Layer adhesion is good, I had a bit of trouble getting it to stick to the bed, but I think that's a function of my print setup, not the filament (I need an enclosure around my printer).I will definitely be buying more of this filament, and likely some of the other colors.

The filament printed as well as any other I have used. The color shift is beautiful. Based on your angle to the print or the angle of light hitting it changes from a deep green to a rich purple. Funny story, my wife looked at a print of mine at night and was not impressed. Then I said turn some lights on and look again. Yep she got it then. Yes I will by it again or a different color pair.

Love this filament, it has an excellent shine post printing, and a nice effect when light hits it at different angles. Polymaker Starlight prints exceptionally well, just keep the speeds below 80mm/s for best shine/sparkle. I'm laying down the first layer at 220 and 215 for all other layers. Highly recommended!

Bought this to make a very large geometric cat art for our entry hallway. This filament printed incredibly well with minimal stringing and was very dry fresh from the packaging. The color on this is the most impressive I've seen from any filament. It's shiny but not like any silk filament. It has a glittering effect throughout and moves between shades of forest green and purple based on the angle/lighting. Definitely my favorite filament, far more impressive than other 'color changing' co-extrusions. This lineup from polymaker will be my go to for display items going forward.

Underwhelmed by this filament. Printed just fine but the effect doesn't pop that well. Maybe because the colors are kind of indistinct, not sure. I prefer dual/tri extrusion for an eye-catching look.

This filament is amazing! Not only is the color so unique with its very slight blue to purple shine; it prints beautifully! Good bed adhesion, butter smooth layer lines that are almost invisible. Highly recommend this filament, I've also tried the color "Comet" which does not have quite the same shifting color, but I'll be trying more colours very soon.

The Jupiter was very nice, a metallic gold with subtle shifting hues that add depth, in other words it looks less flat than standard metallic gold filaments. On the other hand the marketing photos for Aurora were inaccurate, that filament was more a uniform greenish grey that shone gold from specific angles.The picture is of the Starlight Aurora, it's not bad, but neither does it look much like the picture showing the blue-green gradient.As far as the material itself goes it's a good quality standard PLA and hides the layer lines quite well.A star off for the inaccurate colours.

Prints great and is stunning!

Ordered this filament to try, I must say that Polymaker makes some great filaments. Getting to be a preference over eSUN PLA+. It prints very well with little stringing and has some great adhesion and print quality. Most fun is the changing colour depending on the angle you look at it. Recommend for anyone looking for some interesting colours to print.
