Really simple
Really simple item. There is a small screw adjust for the blinking speed, but it doesn't work as you'd think. A slight turn changes then blink rate. Turn too much and you'll be back where you started. I kind of wish it had a greater range of blink speed adjustment, but for something so simple, I'm not complaining.

which works fine. Then back to the Varad
Second unit dead on arrival. This is a simple unit. Providing 12V DC to the red (+) and connecting black to ground, nothing. No lights, nothing. Tested a similar LED from R. Shack, which works fine. Then back to the Varad. Dead. Nothing. Two in a row? Waste of time and money. Back it goes.

Good Product
Easy install if you have a general idea of automotive wiring... Download your vehicles schematics on 12volt.comI would recommend installing in the kick panel because that is where the pros install the car alarm lights from what I seen.Installing in the kick panel is easy, you need a drill and bitI would buy extra wire gauge 18 or 20 for to extend the light because the wires supplied are pretty shortI also recommend using a soldering connection but a twisted on connection with electrical tape should do.There's three wires... If you are installing it with a vehicle with no alarm it's very easy. You have three colored wires, the picture is misleading.. It should be RED(positive) black (ground) yellow (ignition). The wires that go to the led are red(positive) and black(negative) which goes to a module where you can adjust the speed of the light with a super small philips screwdriver. It then exits into 3 separate prestripped wires that exit the light adjuster. The black is (ground), the yellow goes to the ignition, and the red goes to the 12 volt power source. Like I said do yourself a favor and download the diagram for your car. I installed an inline fuse to the positive(red) wire to be safe. I'd rather blow a fuse than short the wire or connection. You don't need the fuse I just took it as a precaution. Here is what I needed or what I used to install-Socket set to remove kick panel-Drill with 5/16 bit-Soldering Iron with Solder (twisting wires can work too)-Shrink Wrap or electrical tape ($?)-Inline Fuse ($5-6) with a 15 amp ATC fuse ($)-18 gauge wire ($7 local auto store)-PatienceConsRed LED isn't TOO bright, if you're really looking to light up the car I would recommend the blue LED deterrent.Adjusting the light is tricky but manageable, keep the adjuster accessible so you can tinker it to your liking in the futureLED seems delicate so handle with careMounting Bezel is... interesting I'm not in love with it but it worksOverall great product, installed it on my Grandpas Tundra and he loved it. I'm 18 by the way so don't over think or think this is terribly hard. I will definitely order another one but for my car. Goodluck

Very bright and flashy.
I've used Flashing LEDs in the past to simulate the presence of a car alarm and instead of building another assembly for my latest car purchase, I decided to buy this one instead thinking it already had the control and mounting bezel in place.Ultimately, this is a very bright flashing LED so I am pleased with that but the mounting bezel had a really odd shape and looked non-professional so I used a low profile back LED bezel you can find at electronics stores which worked just fine. What was really frustrating is that in the past, I've used three terminal flashing LEDs which allow you to connect one of the terminals to a voltage source that stops the LED from Flashing so you do not have the thing blinking at you while you are driving. Seeing that this device had three wires, I assumed it would operate in the same capacity but it does not. It assumes your ACC voltage source becomes chassis grounded in the OFF position to activate the LED (most cars I'm aware off do NOT offer ACC grounding in the off position) I had to rig a secondary "normally-closed" relay to control this LED which is working well but it made what should have been a simple installation more complicated. In the end, this is a simple blinking LED with a little more fancy packaging around it. If you do have a ACC voltage source that becomes grounded in the OFF position, it will work for you.

alarm light
it works great. my car was being broken into a lot before installing this. now it looks like there is an alarm, so people leave it alone.and the price was very reasonable.well worth it.

Not much install information provided.
No instructions on actual hook up in an automobile included with this item or on Varad's website. You get a sketch o f the LED pointing out which voltage or ground is for the red and black wires with the yellow wire being not clear for me and I'm sure most others.

Plenty bright but has weird shaped head
For people concerned only with it brightness, this is guaranteed VERY BRIGHT. It's actually visible from a great distance at night and almost visible in broad daylight. This probably uses the same LED bulb as conventional LED flashlights. This thing lights up half of my garage ceiling as it blinks (it is shooting straight out upward from the car dashboard). Just like what the other reviewers said, it is plenty bright. No doubt this will prevent any potential break ins.As for the head shape, it is not regular round but rather round with two apexes giving it cheapy look. Not very good design and giving an obvious look of add-on. The shape is only noticeable when looked at directly for more than 2 secs. The blink speed is adjustable which is a plus. Out of the box the blink setting is too fast but it can be adjusted with a turn of a screw head. Very good feature there obviously. For installation, what I did on mine is installed the wires on accessory, battery and ground wires behind my radio harness.I highly recommend this item whether or not you have an alarm.
