Fascinating, Fun and Fabulous!
So happy there is a third in this Curious Creatures series by this wonderful author and talented illustrator! These books make the best birthday and Christmas gifts and I love that they are so informative and interesting for everyone – adults as well as little ones. I especially liked the part about the vervet monkeys - we had one as a pet when I was living in Africa, so it brought back some lovely childhood memories. This is a fabulous book, alongside the other two, that every child will love.

A perfect gift for curious nature lovers
From bioluminescent lights to dancing spiders, this book shows the different way animals communicate with one another. We loved all the unusual examples of the way animals use incredible sounds, smells and touch. Beautiful illustrations and a really unique look at the natural world and the way it works. We loved the connections to how humans communicate. This would be a perfect gift for nature lovers. My girls loved it!

Learn about animal and human communication
This book covers a fascinating topic in a simple and easy to understand way making it highly accessible to young children. It explains how animals communicate with each other without using words using a range of wild and domestic animals as examples. We just have to learn to understand the signals so we can tell when they are happy, hungry, angry, tired or afraid. In a fun twist to this it is pointed how haw we can mimic animal behaviour to help us communicate better, from the red stag parallel walking to decide who is the strongest instead of fighting, to the soothing lullaby of the humpback whale. We learn how animals use all their senses. Colour, sound, smell and touch are all important methods of communication and again this is compared to human behaviour. The illustrations and end pages are bold and eye-catching. On each spread the text is scattered around the page so each animal takes centre stage. At the end of the book there is an important message of how by increasing our understanding of the different methods of animal communication we can develop our empathy skills. This series would be ideal in the classroom or for home learning to support the programmes of study for science human and animals. In particular, recognising the differences between each other and exploring how senses enable humans and animals to be aware of the world around them.

Exciting, engaging and educational
I read this book in one go, as it was far too fascinating to put down! Perfect for curious children, the text and illustrations combine to offer amazing insights into how different creatures communicate with each other. This beautifully illustrated book also gently teaches us to have empathy not just with animals, but with our fellow humans. A perfect addition to any child’s bookshelf, and the third book in a wonderful series.

Clever and Curious!
This is such a fun read! I loved how the author shared such an amazing diverse range of animal communication and compared some of it to our own human behaviour. Paired with beautiful illustrations this book is brilliant and i think would go down well with little non fiction readers!

Very very interesting
Amazing book, packed full with fascinating information. Not the kind of sticky book that kids want to read cover to cover over and over, it’s not captivating in that sense, but it’s more a resource to tap into as things in there come up in conversation with the kids. “Did you know that…” type of conversations, “let’s have a look here, wow”.
