OUD Vanilla by maison milan- Sweet and Vanilla Unisex Fragrance with touch of OUD- Eau de Parfum 90ml

I really like this Maison Milan Oud Vanilla fragrance and I like its uniqueness. I’m a great fan of oud, and I also love vanilla but I wouldn’t ever have thought of combining them; and yet it works amazingly well, at least for me. The fragrance comes in an attractive package and is contained within a pretty classy opaque cream bottle with a large round black stopper. You can’t see the liquid at all, so the overall effect is quite mysterious; old-fashioned in some ways, almost apothecary-like, and yet sophisticated and modern in others. Needless to say, whether someone will like a particular fragrance or not is a very personal thing so I fully appreciate the opinion of another reviewer who didn’t like this fragrance at all. However, some very well-known ‘high end’ (and very expensive) fragrance houses list oud and oud-blend fragrances in their catalogue, so this Maison Milan fragrance is following in some very well-trodden ‘posh’ footsteps. Irrespective of whether someone likes a fragrance or not, the indisputable qualities of any perfume are things such as complexity, projection, sillage, longevity and so on. I have to say that this Maison Milan ticks every single box as far as these qualities are concerned and, unlike many mid-priced perfumes, it just lasts and lasts. It’s definitely an eau de parfum and not a lower quality eau de toilette, so it is also extremely good value; a very little certainly goes a very long way. I ordered this Oud Vanilla fragrance for my daughter and my original intention was for her to test it for me. However, since the fragrance is a unisex fragrance, I couldn’t resist opening it and then I thought I would try one little spray on my wrist to test it myself. At that time, I really hadn’t intended to keep it but, about three hours later, the wonderful fragrance is still present so I’m now seriously considering just keeping this Oud Vanilla to use as a base layer for my usual, extremely expensive ‘aftershave’. It really is that good, so I think that this is just going to be a fight between my conscience and me.

I was pleased to be offered the opportunity to review this perfume through the Amazon Vine programme because I was curious as to how appropriate it was to describe it as a unisex perfume;- and I wondered what the chances would be of both my partner and I liking and using the same perfume! This bottle of "Maison Milan OUD Vanilla Eau de Parfum" is certainly "chunky" and heavy;- suggesting a high quality premium product is contained within! The rather large shiny black circular "stopper" at the top of the bottle can easily be pulled free to reveal a "push-button" spray cap for dispensing a "mist" of the perfume contained inside. As the perfume bottle is an opaque creamy sand colour it's not possible to see the actual level of perfume in the bottle, and, as the weight of the bottle far exceeds the weight of the perfume, it will prove difficult to predict just how much perfume remains after some of it has been used or has simply evaporated over time. I accept that I may not have a very sophisticated sense of smell (as my partner often reminds me) but my opinion of the smell of the perfume is just as valid as anyone else's. Translating into words my impression of the smell of this perfume is difficult;- it certainly has a distinctive aroma with a strong hint of vanilla that lingers, and for me the smell is certainly pleasant enough. However overall my opinion is that the perfume is slightly too cloyingly sweet for me to use personally on a regular basis. After a trial period of both my partner and I "wearing" this perfume my partner is of the opinion that it suits her best as she thinks the scent is too feminine for me. I agree with my partner;- I think this perfume does smell more appropriate when "worn" by her, so this is a case of her gain is my loss;- she can use this perfume instead of me!

The package arrived well-packed. However, the perfume stinks. I will not be using it or recommending it to any friends or family.

Got this as a present for my fiancée who reported it was "nice," "elegant," "fragrant," "came in a nice packaging." Overall she was pleased with the perfume, so I think this is a hit.

The quality of the product itself is great and it comes in a neat little box so good for gifting to others. About the scent itself, the smell is alright but it’s quite strong! It gave me a headache. The smell is too oud kind it’s so strong that it masks the vanilla smell itself! It’s not as pleasant smell as you would normally expect in a vanilla flavoured perfume. Overall its a good product but not for thoee who don’t want too much oud and strong.

Maison Milan's Oud Vanilla unisex fragrance smells lovely, reminiscent of angel cake mix. Oud is from the Aquilaria tree but I didn't get any woodiness from the long-lasting scent, just those comforting vanilla baking notes. I'm not sure my male friends would want to wear it themselves, though. It isn't gender neutral, in my opinion, because of that lack of woodiness. I can be quite sensitive to perfumes but didn't react to this at all and could smell it several hours after a single squirt to one wrist (rubbed on the other one to spread the scent) and then rubbed onto each side of my neck. A little goes a long way and it is a surprisingly big squirt from the black plastic button which I think looks rather cheap. The bottle lets it down slightly, this might be one to pour into a stylish atomiser. I liked the round black stopper but the cream-coloured glass bottle itself reminded me of gin bottles. You can't see the contents so can't see how much you have left, not even when you hold it up to the light. It does come in a good quality presentation box, though.
