But the works themselves are absolutely essential to the advanced practitioner who wants to take their talisman construction to the next level or reverse engineer popular methods The translator's introduction provided by Mr. Hess helps to contextualize the work and his block quotes and discussion of the views of Albertus Magnus and Thomas Aquinas act as an excellent introduction of different medieval perspectives regarding the construction of talismans. Christopher Warnock provides a commentary and offers his own approach to such texts and a philosophical approach too help guide the serious student into the kind of self awareness necessary too maintaining consistency while working these magic systems while explaining exactly what is required to master them. Warnock also provides a brief overview of his own approach which is serviceable, but I would recommend the serious student take his astrological magic class to truly get a handle on the material.
