Schumann: Album for the Young: Opus 68 for the Piano

I have taught with this particular edition for several years. As always the historical information in the forward is very useful. The Alfred habit of marking edits with grey ink allows the performer to decide which markings they will use. You can see what the composer wrote and give better instruction to students on preferences for performance.

This is a beautiful score and the content is interesting. The font is clear, big and easy to read. Yet, although historically interesting the gray fingering is impossible to read. Perhaps the alternate fingering could be a different color. I had to return the score for this reason.

Too much useless information and the print is too cluttered.

Everyone loves these pieces. I was disappointed in the print quality of this edition. I miss the high quality printing of sheet music from the old days.

Frankly, I just did not like the "shaded" print in this series of books.
