Keratex Hoof Putty

I love this product, although I have only used it for a week. My horse has a hole in the hoof wall and hard filler did not work and fell out almost immediately. This hoof putty is flexible and does not set hard. It remains semi pliable and can be topped up as necessary. A bit tough to get out of the tin, but once it's out, it softens quickly. A great product.

Bought this and struggled to get it out of the tin. Soon found a way around this by putting the tin in a bowl of boiling water and it was much easier to get out. Haven't had any issues with it in my horses hoof which is the most important thing!

Would highly recommend this product

After spending 20 mins with a hoof pick trying to get stuff put the tin it lasted a total of 10 mins in his hoof. I've tried various methods even duct tape and couldn't get it to stay in the hole left by the abscess. Gave up in the end much to relief of poor pony

The fields our horses are on have a lot of slate chippings in the soil, these chips of slate cut into their hooves and eventually if missed cause infections. We had dry spell of weather and the horses kept going lame. It seemed the vet or farrier was out every week to see to them causing large bills. The farrier suggested that when we dig out the stones we fill the holes with "Keratex hoof putty". It worked:- for the last 6 weeks we have had no lame horses and thankfully no vets bills. Therefore I would highly recommend this product.

Don't waste your money

Yes it's very hard and difficult to get out of the tin but once softened, it fills the holes and cracks in the hoof really well. Stays in too.

Putty is rock hard and too difficult to get out of the tin. I have a yard with no hot water so no way of heating it up.

This black putty is to be put at the bottom of the hoof to help keep it from getting thrush and other wet diseases. It is a little messy to get out of the tub but once we used a paint steering stick, it seemed to go seamlessly the horses stood well, and so far even with two solid days of rain it has held.

Très bien pour soigner une fourmilière au sabot. Il faut bien malaxer le produit avant utilisation un peu comme de la patte à modeler pour pouvoir l'insérer dans les fentes du sabot.

What I did was: soak hoof, dry, place on large piece of cardboard(our barn has rubber mats but this keeps the hoof cleaner) let air dry, work with the putty with clean hoof pick to get out(once out it goes soft in hands quickly but it's a rock in can). Then have someone else hold foot when you put it in. It stays in about 1 or 2 weeks for my mare.

Very costly

Difficult to find in local stores, they work well and easy to use.
