Woodcutters Helper 16" Magnetic Firewood Measuring Tool - Fiberglass

This is the third time I’ve purchased this handy measuring device! It’s very durable with a strong magnetic grip to either side of chainsaw bar ensuring a consistent 16” round for splitting. I’ve lost the first two through carelessness and recommend securing it to a belt or stable metal surface when not in use as it’s easy to misplace despite the bright orange color.

This little tool works great. Years ago I made one of these with a small stereo magnet and a wooden dowel, it cost about $5. It worked and you can certainly do it that way, but this little guy has a neodymium magnet. It will not fall off. I cut my firewood at 16" and 14" (for two separate stoves). This is for 16" only, so I painted a different color line on this at 14". I am very happy with this product and it has become a part of my truck tool box.

This product works great! I do not use it while cutting through the logs. I mark up the entire log, remove the tool, and go back to cut the rounds. It takes only about a minute or so to mark them up, which is far less time than trying to measure each one as you go and is more accurate than eyeballing it. I keep mine in its original package (cardboard tube) for safe-keeping when not in use. I've had it for almost two years now, cutting at least 4 cords per year, and so far no problems at all. I wish I had bought one years ago.
