Cheap and sturdy. Works perfectly on Glidecam hd4000
Well, this QR plate is the better one when it comes to: Price, quality, easy of use and the most important thing(for me at least) is the fact that has a flat surface on the bottom side so you can easily use on the Glidecam HD4000. Besides all of these qualities, the screw has this half circle that helps when you don't have a coin... but its better with a coin because the coin allow you to tighten more.

Easy way to convert tripods made for larger cameras to fit a smaller mirrorless
I used this to convert the plate that came with my tripod to something smaller that would fit my GH5. My tripod is made for a much larger video camera so that plate is awkwardly and I would have to take it off to fit in my bag. With this i was able to leave the original plate on the tripod. This new base sits flat on top of the old plate, which is perfect. The quick release system works great and the quality feels solid. The base is a hard plastic but the plate is metal.

Well made. Updates my old tripod.
Now with this quick release plate that includes levels, my vintage tripod is easier to use. The construction is all metal and works well. If you're looking to update your old tripod instead of buying a new one, this does the trick for a reasonable cost.

Decent option if you are looking to Unify your Quick Release System
The media could not be loaded. I purchased 3 of these so I could more easily move my camera between the various tripod mounts I have (Vanguard Alta Pro, Joby Gorilla Pod, Zhiyun Crane). This solution was cheaper then the Manfrotto 323RC2 and not built as solidly, however, it lies flat which the Manfrotto 323RC2 does not due to a petrusion at the bottom of the design. That was a deal-breaker for me so I took a chance with the Oben QRA R2. It's not perfect, but is adequate for my needs.Pros:+ Decent price+ Lies flat+ Double action quick release safety lever+ Two built-in leveling bubbles+ Toolless quick release plate is easy to attach to the bottom of your camera+ Mounting bracket has a 3/8"-16 connector and a 1/4"-20 adapter included.Cons:+ Build quality is average. Not as strong as a Manfrotto but strong enough that I don't feel like it is going to break.+ Quick release system sometimes gets stuck and requires a little wiggling to release. Not a deal breaker but not as smooth as one would like or expect.

Great for the Glidecam HD 1000
I purchased this for the Glidecam HD 1000. I spent some time looking at all the different quick releases on amazon. I originally ordered another quick release assembly first and when it arrived I realized that it weighed 1 pound. I must have glossed over the the weight in the tech specs - my bad, and returned the item. The load capacity for the HD 1000 is 1.5-3 lb. I use a canon 60D, so the weight is something I want to keep to a minimum.I continued my search and found the Oben QRA-R2 Quick Release Assembly with RP-20 Plate which was highly recommended on some forums and in the Amazon customer reviews. What I like about Oben QRA-R2 Quick Release:* weight was only 4.7 oz. as opposed to the 1 lb* It has a flat surface that fits nicely on the Head Assembly of the Glidecam.* has level bubbles - extra bonus. Makes balancing the rig easy.* Mostly metalWhat you will need is a 1/4 inch - 20 x 1/2 inch screw and a couple of washers to lock the quick release onto the Head Assembly, which I bought at home depot.I also cut 2 strips of cork liner from a sheet (draw liners) and placed them between the base of the quick release and the Head Assembly to prevent slippage

Excellent! Exactly as described. Easy to use. I’m gonna order another one!
Easy to use. Directions could have been a little better but I figured it out. Sturdy product. Will last forever. Still gonna order another one of these! Love it.

Room for improvement!
I have six Quick Release setups in three sizes, all Manfrotto. They're great for many things besides tripods; one connects an iPhone holder to my motorcycle. Love it! But I needed some small QRs that are flat on the bottom which the Manfrotto 323 definitely is not. Decided to get one Oben QRA-R2 and a Giottos MH-652 to find out which one is best. The Oben had a real problem. The cam lever would bind while opening, letting the camera out OK, but re-inserting another camera wouldn't depress the locking pin, releasing the lever. It made me think eventually I would believe the camera was mounted OK when it wasn't, leading to an accident. The Giottos was very similar to the Oben and worked fine so I ordered some more of those. They were also significantly cheaper. When the Giottos arrived, 2 of the three locking pins were so sloppy, they didn't hold open the cam lever, requiring one hand on the lever and one on the camera to get it seated properly. OK for small cameras but these things work much better if you can hold the camera with two hands and just snap it into place, then tighten the lever. I guess both companies have some quality control issues. The Giottos has three levels and the Oben four. Only three of the twelve Giottos (four assemblies altogether) were accurate. Non of the Oben were accurate except for the bullseye level the Giottos doesn't have. Fortunately they're easy to remove and you can mess with their calibration to your hearts content. My problem is seeing the darn things with a big old DSLR on top. Interestingly, the Oben plates and the Giottos plates are identical so you can mix and match. The Manfrotto is different. Both the Giottos and Oben advertise a 3/4" slot to help balance the camera front to back. Yes, the slot is there but the camera screw provided has a large wire bail for a handle which prevents using more than 3/8" of travel. I managed to get the full travel on one using a Manfrotto screw without the bail. Another thing, both the Manfrotto and Giottos inexplicably shift the alignment of the camera about 5mm to the side of the tripod screw. Only the Oben allowed you to center the camera screw directly above the tripod screw, presumably centered under the focal plane. Probably not a big deal unless you're stitching together panoramas and want to minimize edge distortion. My advice: Get the Manfrotto if you don't need a flat bottom. Otherwise the Oben is probably a little better than the Giottos, but not worth the extra money. Maybe order some extras and send the defective ones back. Meanwhile, there's lots of room for someone to step in and get this right.

Good, but central mounting hole has no mounting chamfer ...
Good, but central mounting hole has no mounting chamfer and all my other tripod heads do. Thus tapered mounting screw did not fully seat. Had to ream out with drill chamfer bit.

Great Product
Works really well. Is nice and snug and quick and easy to attach/detach camera, even with our larger Canon XA20. Exactly what you want a quick release to do.
