I'd rather have this than the Haynes Manual I also have. Having said that I think you probably want both if like me you are into keeping an older car is on the road and performing well. Lots of ordinary and special projects in the book - although I would call a lot of these just easy maintenance - all marked up for difficulty on a scale from 1-10. Changing a head Gasket would rate 2/10 and inflating the tyres is 1/10. So no surprise the gearbox repair is 8/10 and engine rebuild 10/10. Great book if you are into the 3 Series maintenance yourself.

absolutely invaluable. better than Haynes- colour pictures and more accesable style. must have for home E36 mechanic. only slight caveat is that most projects are more just maintenence than 'performance', but thats no problem as its what i wanted it for.

This is a must have manual for any owner of an E30/E36...this book is brillaint and I get far more use out of it than I do with my Haynes and Bentley manuals.If there is one DIY book for E30/E36's then this is the one you need

Well to be honest I know 100s of BMW enthusiast who would regularly visit Pelican Technical Articles for help on which this book is based, I was one of them so the next step was to buy the book and it did not disappoint,this is lets say a simplified version of Bentley manual its written in an easy to understand language by a BMW owner and enthusiast with excellent quality pictures,its articles are easy to navigate it feels modern when you read it (unlike Bentleys which is over 10 years old) Excellent choice especially for those beginners (and not only)for the fraction of the Bentleys manual price it will give you loads of info on E30 and E36 models,don't be fooled by its title of 101 performance projects this book is not meant for those crazy petrol heads or heavy tuners looking for performance most of the stuff covered are standard procedures written in detail with an option of some widely acceptable and popular upgrades for your car from some well known manufacturers.

Title of this book, "101 performance projects for your BMW 3 series 1982-2000" does not do justice to other book which actually discuss performance projects to your car. Washing or jacking up a car are not performance projects to me! This is merely a service handbook with just a couple of projects i would actually count in as performance projects.Two stars of five came from a good step by step illustrated story about timing of M50 camshafts, saving this book from being total waste of money.
