In Concert [Blu-ray]

I really enjoyed this concert. The audio (non-compressed stereo of course) and video are excellent. The new songs are just as good as the older standards. If you are a fan, you will enjoy this disc. What a great bargain, I couldn't even park near the venue for the price of this blu-ray!Update.......WHOA! - I just watched and listened to the "bonus concert", Up On Cyprus Avenue. This bonus is better than the concert recorded at the BBC Radio Theater. The concert at the BBC Radio Theater, while great, is in a controlled environment. The concert "Up On Cyprus Avenue", near Van's home town, is the real deal. It is like watching Van at a local festival.Of course, as expected, the musicians and back up singer are at the top of their game. WOWI also need to mention, I ordered this disc on a Saturday and received on Sunday - how cool is that?

One of his best pair of performances I have seen in the last decade of this singer...The BBC special was tight and his band is stellar.. The Cyprus Avenue performance was a small street affair and was a beautiful day for a rather intimate outdoor concert. The new material is evident on the tracks chosen for the BBC show and were new to me. I enjoyed both shows and a great price for the two and half hours of material on this DVD. The band was not the same for both shows, but was still a great band at the outdoor gig..Van can still sing like no other his standards and I would highly recommend this show to any fan.

I really enjoyed both the concerts on this DVD. Great song selection, strong backing bands, and the Cyprus Avenue show just has a feel to it that makes it special.Other reviewers have complained that Van isn't chatty and leaves the stage right away at the end of the first concert. Good grief, Van is a cantankerous fellow who's never been into chatting between songs, not even when he was young. Others have said his voice isn't strong. It doesn't have the bite it did when he was a young man, but it has more than enough soul to make up for it.Van fans will be happy to have another video to catch Van the Man in action. Enjoy!

Two great concerts for the price of one, this disc would still be a bargain with only one. The Cypress Avenue concert is my favorite, but they're both excellent, with plenty of great tunes, many Morrison originals and some blues/jazz covers also well done. His band plays perfectly tight behind him, and the pace of both concerts keeps everything moving briskly. Sound, camera angles and production quality are top-notch.If you like Morrison, even just a little bit, these two shows will satisfy. I've had it two weeks and have already watched it three times. It's a keeper, for sure.

I try to purchase every Van Morrison album as it comes out so I own most of his albums. I was well aware of Van's capabilities at this stage in his life - he was 71 at the time of this show - and I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed this blu-ray. It was perhaps even better than I'd hoped. It's great to have this concert in crystal clear HD and DTS HD Master Audio sound. The audio is true to the venue and not remixed to have sounds emanate from different speakers.I can only hope that his past concerts will be upgraded to BD if only for higher quality sound.

Fan since 1965, no less, I loved the early and mid-career Van Morrison and have stuck with him during what can only be called his slow decline. Everything seems to be a semi-jazz shuffle now -- good blues and soul but temperate and predictable, not fiery and transcendent. Still, I will buy whatever he puts out, and this concert Blue-Ray is worth it. The BBC studio concert is OK, but the outdoor Cyprus Avenue concert is better. Good that both were included.

I’m a big Van Morrison fan for many many years. Saw him live in 2006 and loved the show. So I was really looking forward to these two 2016 show. Unfortunately both shows are terribly low energy affairs particularly the Up on Cypress Street show. Van just seems really listless and shows no energy toward the material or his legacy. So I was very disappointed in this Blu-ray.

Van at his best, a great concert plus you get 2 shows with the added bonus. Van Morrison needs no glitz, just raw talent.

I enjoy Van Morrisons music ( if not his attitude to his admirers) and this is a good example of his excellent work.To see the interactions of the musicians whilst following the masters instructions is an education. I will enjoy this for years to come.

Es gibt eigentlich nur wenig gutes Bildmaterial von Van Morrison. Der nun im Februar 2018 erschienene Konzertmittschnitt zählt für mich eindeutig zu den besten visuellen Aufzeichnungen von Van und aus diesem Grunde habe ich mir die DVD angeschafft. Zu sehen sind eigentlich zwei herausragende Konzerte. Zunächst ist da "In Concert". Hierbei handelt es sich um einen Auftritt im BBC Radio Theatre aus dem Jahre 2016 und zwar aus der Reihe BBC Radio 2 'In Concert'. Die hervorragende Setlist bewegt sich zeitlich durch sein gesamtes Schaffen. Auch Songs von dem damals aktuellen Album "Keep Me Singing" (Let It Rhyme, Every Time I See A River, Keep Me Singing, Going Down To Bangor und The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword) sind hier für mich erstmals live zu erleben. Aber auch Klassiker wie Too Late, Baby Please Don't Go, Jackie Wilson Said, In The Garden, Here Comes The Night, Brown Eyed Girl oder Sometimes We Cry sind zu genießen. Seine Mitstreiter an seiner Seite begleiten ihn exzellent und überaus einfühlsam.Das zweite Konzert spielte er anlässlich zu seinem 70. Geburtstag in seiner Geburtsstadt Belfast und es umfasst das einstündige "'Up On Cyprus Avenue'-Konzert" aus dem Jahre 2015. Einige wenige Songs wiederholen sich hier, wobei die Open-Air Atmosphäre eine völlig andere ist. Die besonderen Songs sind sicherlich Cyprus Avenue, Celtic Swing, Cleaning Windows, days Like This, Precious Time, Parchman Farm, It's All In The Game, Burning Ground, And The Healing Has Begun und On Hyndford Street.Beide Konzerte sind absolut lohnend und ich hoffe, dass sie möglichst bald als CD bzw. LP erscheinen werden. Bild- und Klangqualität lassen für mich nichts zu mäkeln. Für mich "In Concert" ein absolut tolles Seh- und Hörerlebnis.

Fabulous preformance from Van. Proof indeed that he has lost none of his ability to deliver on stage.
