Jared Stearns did a marvellous job bringing Marilyn Chambers to life. So many unseen details that the author revealed in this work of love. My partner and I wrote, produced, and directed Insatiable, one of Marilyn's classics, as well as several other titles our Ivory Snow Princess starred in. Godfrey (director Godfrey Daniels) and I were very close to Ms. Chambers and knew her in ways that the public never saw. Chuck Traynor (Ms. Chambers husband) was also a close friend. I will leave it to others to do the book's post mortum while I wish only to reflect on the care Jared took to make MC come alive. The adult industry in the 70s and 80s was unlike the industry of today...a much darker and tenuous world filled with characters nonexistent in today's adult world. And Marilyn knew them all. Behind the Green Door and our classic, Insatiable, exposed Marilyn, Chuck, my partner and I to a world beyond the boundaries of today. One that author Stearns details in descriptives that literally jump off the page. "Pure" is a work of art, a once in a lifetime masterpiece that lays bare scenes that will challenge the readers imagination and sense of propriety. I just finished reading Pure for the second time, wanting to take a deeper dive before offering a review. I'm glad I did. I love biographies and this one did not disappoint. Marilyn Chambers is a fascinating subject and her life provided the author with an abundance of ways to discuss her impact and importance in the film world, as a modern woman and as a survivor. Incredibly well researched (the author spent 10 years researching and writing) and beautifully written, Marilyn's story comes to life on these pages and succeeds in showcaseing how seminal her work was and how successful she was apart from her adult film career and how important her role was in the sexual revolution. Highly recommend and would love to see a film about her life.

Not bad insight of not just chambers personal life but the adult industry. Not always a pretty picture . But we do find some interesting tiblets about the personal lives of all involved.. and a nice set of photos too.. However, they did leave out some pretty interesting information about her 21st birthday party.. ummmmmm.
