Blink Sync Module XR (newest model) — System hub for all Blink devices, go up to 400 feet from your home with extended range for Outdoor 4

We bought this extender along with the Blink outdoor 4 camera to keep an eye on our chickens. We read reviews before purchase due others saying the range was great. Our coop is about 150’ from our house. We were skeptical at first because we had tried other extenders. We were surprised by the easy set up and how great this camera and extender work!!! It worked so great that we purchased an additional camera for another angel. Picture quality is great, so clear. Night vision is also great quality.

The Blink Sync Module XR efficiently manages all connected devices, providing straightforward device pairing capability. With a single button press, users can arm or disarm every associated device. Our setup includes two modules, each assigned to a distinct zone. Cameras linked to one Sync Module XR remain continuously armed and record video clips upon motion detection, whereas cameras on the second module are only activated when the premises are vacated or during nighttime hours. The Sync Module XR establishes a reliable connection with the router and offers substantial range for its devices. Additionally, it supports local video storage through the installation of a microSD card, enhancing data accessibility and security.

I have had Blink cameras both at home and my camp up in Maine for years now and have been very pleased with them. When I saw they now have an extended range I was thrilled as now I could be able to check on the boats at the dock in the summer when I'm not there. Well 4 days into the new XR system and have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I'm almost exactly 200 feet from the water and so far, they work about 25% of the time. Tried a couple times to set it on XR Mode and it wouldn't work. Finally got it to work on XR+ but like I said, maybe 25% of the time it will work, rest of the time is the clockwise symbol that it's trying to load.**** UPDATE 12/9/2024 ****So soon after this poor review I was contacted by Blink Support. They had me grant access to my system and looked into the issues I was having. They discovered I was connected to my 4G system and Blink operates on 2.4G. I switched my Sync module over to the 2.4 that I have for tank utility system this past weekend, and it now works perfectly. Big thank you to Kevin from Blink Technical support.

I have been waiting over a year for this new module to come out and it finally did. There are many positives and some limitations that are not thoroughly described on the item :+ It works fine with A new blink camera at 250 feet which is beyond my wifi range. That alone makes it a winner and a keeper for use on a far away gate or outside a building.+The quality of the unit appears to be heavier and much better than the earlier plastic sync modules which are lightweight plastic.+Easy to hook up and sync with new camerasThe minus: There are three ranges you can set the camera on using the new sync module. In the highest quality video mode, you are not restricted on the number of cameras as you are in wifi mode. In the extended range up to 250 feet you can use two cameras at mid quality video but the others must be on high quality wi fi. If you use the 400 feet max extended range, you can only use 1 camera at lowest quality and the others must be on wifi. If you intend on running several cameras at max range it will not work as you can only add one camera at max range 400 feet per module without adding a second module.-You are limited to 2 modules per account which equals 4 cameras at 250 feet mid quality or 2 cameras at 400 feet lowest quality plus the remaining 8 cameras per module at wifi range.As long as you understand that the module will not allow you to add multiple long range cameras (only 2 at 250ft or 1 at 400 feet) then it is a great addition to the blink system.

I recently began raising chickens, and I was so worried about them when they started to live in the coop and not under our watchful eye in their brooder. I searched for the best way to run internet out to the coop, a workaround was this extender for the Blink camera. I was thrilled. I read all the reviews before making this purchase. Like always, the reviews were mixed on how far the signal would reach. it was on sale for Memorial Day, so I just decided to give it a try. The camera that was bundled with it was not shipping at the same time and wouldn't arrive for weeks. So I took one of my newer Blink Cameras down in another area and paired it with this booster when it arrived. My Coop is about 200 feet from my house, and inside the coop, the camera is crystal clear! Full color with Audio. It's great! Another amazing feature is that Blink Cameras have an internal thermometer to alert you if the temperatures are too extreme, as they are battery-operated. Now I can use this feature to easily check the temperature in my coop as well as watch the chickens. I've had this for about 10 days now and its amazing. The quality is great. Other reviewers made mention that this only works with the Blink 4 series which is the newest cameras, I have not tested that and I should mention in order to use Blink Cameras you do have to pay a monthly or annual subscription. It is $10 a month to use an unlimited amount of cameras / cloud storage.
