Yes mate if you refer of the surgical masks I done it with mine . As it had rubber all around it you can stretch it around and it will stay ... will filter a little better then the normal use of the protective mask as air gets in only one way.

nope air still enters, along with its pollutants (i.e. smoke, fumes, car-exhaust, the smell of flowers, etc...)
