Excellent
Read the first book hates the cliff hanger and this one filled in the missing pieces. It’s thrilling and exciting I finished this book in a week and I usually do not like reading and will take months to read one book. Definitely worth it. Shipping for this was quick and timely.

Sometimes the sequel is just as good
Just as addicting as Glitter with even more twists and turns. I noticed the book has plot twists I didn’t see coming and was pleasantly surprised

Fantastic Book and Series!
I really enjoyed reading Glitter, book 1 in this series last year but I have to share that I enjoyed reading Shatter, book 2 even more! I loved this book's setting where near future modern day people live in the The Palace of Versailles as if they are living at the French court in the 1700's as well as the characters and the plot. This book is packed with romance, action and adventure and it had me hooked from start to finish. I was a bit blown away at some of the secrets revealed at the end of the book and I have to admit, it makes me want to read both books over again! I highly recommend it!I received this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own. Thank you to Ms. Pike, Random House as well as Netgalley for the opportunity to read/review this book.

I fell in love with Dani's world in Glitter
I fell in love with Dani's world in Glitter, but I was so disappointed not to see Shatter on Audible. However, I went ahead and bought it on Kindle, and devoured this entire book in 2 days. While cheering for an anti-hero is a little outside the norm, I thought that Pike did a good job of making me fall for Dani. I loved the tension of "When do I stop?"/ "How can I have come this far for nothing?" Also, I LOVED the way that she took care of Reginald. That was so amazing and I did not follow the clues that led up to it, so I was completely surprised.I liked the story lines with Lord Aaron and Sir Spencer, but I really missed Molli in this book. She was such a sweet foil to Dani. However, one of the best story lines was her ongoing feud with Lady Cyn. I'm not a fan of girl drama in books at all, but Lady Cyn was written so well that her actions were completely believable. I often feel like girl drama is overblown in books, but this subtle battle was amazing, and I loved the trump card Dani threw down to end it. Wahoo! While I loved those stories, by far the most intense and interesting was the power struggle between Dani and Justin. They are both clever, willful teenagers that have way too much power for their own good, and it was fun to see them torture each other. However, since this story was so good, it left all the interactions with Saber rather bland. I never loved him in Book 1, and unfortunately for me, I felt like his character went downhill in Book 2. It's not that I needed Dani to end up with Justin, but those two definitely had a lot more chemistry.Overally, I did enjoy this book and the world that Pike created.

A Fantastic Conclusion to the Series.
I was so excited to get an ARC of this book, because I read and loved the first book last year and have been dying to get my hands on the sequel since then. Thank you to NetGalley! I was terrified that this book would be a disappointment after how much I enjoyed Glitter. But thankfully Shatter was just as good as the first book, and a good conclusion to this duology. Picking up just after the events of the first book, Shatter starts off with Dani getting married and trying to pick up the pieces of her life. I loved Dani's character development over the course of the book. First she has to learn how to be queen and then she learns to love the power and the games. And I loved that she loved it. I'm so tired of reading YA heroes and heroines who don't like their power and don't use, I'm tired of rich characters whining about how ''hard'' their life is. Dani never does this. She knows how she got into the mess, and she learns how to make the best of the situation. She learns how to use her power, both in good and bad ways. And it's so well done. For the most part the plot kept me guessing, specifically towards the end Pike kept throwing curve balls at me that were so well written, unexpected and yet expected at the same time. I really enjoyed the whole reading experience. I also like Pike's writing style for this book, and how well it showed the lavish life in Versailles. I really liked that this book didn't bring in a love triangle between Dani, Saber and the King. I know a lot of books would have gone that route, but this book didn't. I also liked the character of the King, he was evil as hell and I loved hating him. Pike doesn't try to turn him into a secret good guy either and that made me happy. Let evil characters stay evil sometimes! I didn't care for the character of Saber, but then I didn't even in the first book. Overall I feel like he was meh, and just sort of in the background being there for Dani but not doing much for the overall plot. And I liked the ending, though I thought it shouldn't have had the last little epilogue. That's just because I personally like more open endings, but it wasn't that big of a deal. It was still a great way for the book to end. I gave Shatter four stars on Goodreads.
