Capoeira 100: An Illustrated Guide to the Essential Movements and Techniques

Excellent Material
This is a great book. It not only contains the basic movements of the art but also some of the more advanced ones. Some of the moves especially the most difficult and acrobatic ones not always have a clear description or suggestion as to how you can work up to them progressively, so please be cautious when trying to practice a move that you are not comfortable with and always try to train in a softer surface or gymnastic mat until you get stronger, coordinated, flexible and faster. Be sure to first work and improve in the more basic movements which will provide you with a strong foundation and body awareness. If you happen to have a capoeira group available in your area go check them out and use this book as a reference for your home or solo training. The book also contains partner drills, fitness exercises and technique applications. The photos are very clear, with steps and written instructions. If you can already perform a handstand or wall handstand, a back bridge, a cartwheel and a full range squat, you will be able to perform most of the basic moves and sequences.

helpful
This book is very helpful and one of a kind. I gave it five stars but i guess there is room for improvement. I think the pictures could look prettier or have arrows but then again maybe there is a functional value to it.I would tell anyone to buy it if they are a beginner. It demonstrates moves and transitional moves. And when i get confused I use it as a reference. It is also provides some philosophy behind capoeira. I use it a lot when i am playing at home. It even gives combinations to try after breaking moves down. It is very reader friendly. also has a sturdy binding so you can throw it around and it stays intact. Overall, I was pleased with the purchase.

Great detail, but difficult to apply techniques
This book has excellent detail and explanations, but it would still be difficult, and potentially hazardous to try an apply these techniques without the proper in-person guidance from an inspector. Still, it is probably the best book on the market. Overall, a GREAT book to supplement you if you are currently enrolled in a class.PROS:-Excellent photographs (clear angles and pixellation)-Detailed explanation-Variety of techniques-Well-oranized contentCONS:-lack of mitigation for poor techniques-slightly less beneficial than a youtube video-significantly less valuable than an actual capoeira class

Pretty Pictures
I bought this book for my girlfriend to expand her movement vocabulary. Now she sexy dance fights all the time. It is also because of this book that she once spilled a cup of my coffee on the carpet. This book should come with a gift certificate for carpet cleaning.

Capoeira 100 is a hit!
Capoeira 100 is a hit because it offers exactly what it promises which is a detailed explanation and illustration for popular capoeira moves and techniques. The reader can familiarize him/herself with the names, set-ups, and execution of each move along with how it is used most commonly.

Good book for beginers
This is a pretty good book if you are a beginner. I think anyone with an intermediate level wouldn't learn to much from it.If you're getting started with capoeira, this is a great book that could help you develop your "jogo"Although you have to remember that the true way to learn capoeira is practicing it.

capoeira
This book is pretty good, shows many moves with a decent amount of photos to ałlow you to practice them. If you are just getting started it can help, but there are multiple styles and teaching to capoeira and this just shows one.

Good illustrations
To be honest I know very little about capoeira apart from seeing it in films and documentaries - that was why I bought this book. I do however own quite a few martial arts books and this is definitely one of the ones with the clearest illustrations. It really gives a good idea of the basic postures and movements, which can seem quite weird if you are used to Chinese martial arts (I suppose Monkey style might have some similarities).

Absolut empfehlenswert
