This book is a masterpiece!
I am thoroughly impressed with this book! The quality of the printing and materials used is truly advanced, making it a standout piece in any collection. Not only is the content captivating, but the attention to detail in the book's design is exceptional. It's a true work of art that doubles as a perfect interior detail. Whether displayed on a coffee table or nestled in a bookshelf, it adds an elegant touch to any space. The rich colors and textures draw you in, and the content keeps you engaged from start to finish. This book is a masterpiece, and I can't recommend it enough to those who appreciate both the written word and the aesthetics of a well-crafted piece.

Extremely enjoyable
I really liked this book. I had only vaguely heard of Robert Kime before I found this by searching on Amazon. By the way a really good way of finding new titles is to start with a title you know you like and see what other people bought or looked for when buying that. Then look at those and the reviews and you will be able to expand your library according to your taste. My library of decorating books is growing now thanks to this method and I love books that show interiors that are basically achievable for many of us. This book has a nice mixture because all the houses it focuses on have been decorated by Kime. So although for example rooms in Clarence House are featured, so too is an Irish cottage (Kime lived in) and other properties he lived in - he seemed to move about a lot. It is interesting to see his style - slightly different for himself than for his clients - and his furniture turning up in different houses. The style overall could perhaps be described as eclectic English and with a country bent - even though some of the interiors are London etc. He was an antique dealer but the furniture featured is not necessarily expensive - just old fashioned. He also uses lots of antique and foreign fabrics and carpets. You can still buy old furniture like this at auction etc often for less than a good quality new similar piece. Or it will give you ideas on how to use Granny's old stuff rather than selling at auction for not very much. The text is informative and the pictures excellent - you get a very good sense of many rooms in one house. The book is nicely produced - in landscape rather than portrait format. Definitely worth adding to your library if you like this style of decorating.

Robert Kime is the great arranger. His rooms are glorious as well as ...
A close look at the developing sensibility of a classic 20th Century collector and decorator. If we think of the room as the essential unit of both traditional gardens & homes, Robert Kime is the great arranger. His rooms are glorious as well as intimate and full of lovely things whose varied histories are part of the charm the rooms cast.

photos a bit too dark.
Good value and a lot to see. If I have a complaint it is about the photography, most of the photos are too dark and one cannot see the details very well. Wonderful text and describes everything which is unusual. I will be giving this book as presents to my friends and family.

incredible book but a shame it isn't coffee table size. Some interiors are so grand they could do with being twice the size to appreciate them properly.
