The filter stops debris from going into the pool pump basket. The pool pump basket does not need cleaned out as much.

I used these socks in my pool skimmer to remove pollen that was making the water cloudy. They did the job! A couple of suggestions for users should be to place a small stone, golf ball size, in the bottom of the sock, otherwise when the filter stops running the sock makes the skimmer basket float and some of the debris can renter the pool. Also, when pollen is heavy, change out the sock several times a day so the filter pressure does not get too high.
