I find writing in long hand is the best way to do certain things, particularly idea generation. Keyboarding can be too quick and seems not to engage my ability to analyze ideas and thoughts as well as writing in long hand. I have pads of paper all over the place, and a few journals for specific purposes.This is a well-crafted journal. It's a good size to throw into a bag and carry around. I can pull it out any time a thought hits me. The paper is easy to write on. The cover seems pretty rugged. And I like the color (there's a decent variety available).I do have an issue with the term "vegan leather," which many products seem to use these days. I suppose it sounds better than "artificial leather," but come on...

What a nice looking notebook. I like that it has the elastic band to keep the book itself closed, as well as the small elastic pen loop so you can carry the pen with you easily. I have other notebooks that are more basic and I’m constantly trying to find a pen, figure out where to keep the pen, or losing the pen on my never-going-to-be-neat desk or in my even-more-cluttered-bag.The cover is embossed with a nice looking pattern and while it feels a little like PU (neither leather or paper) it isn’t unpleasant. In fact, I think it has a nice grippy feel while still having a softness about it. The writing paper is a nice cream color, thick, lined, and the top of each page (front and back) has day and date sections.The included pen is a rollerball, though I thought they listed this as having a ballpoint. Either way, I’m happy it’s a rollerball as it’s my preferred pen type after fountain pens. Writing with the pen is nice as the cartridge seems to be of good quality. The pen itself is light weight, a little too much so for my everyday writing taste, but not so much so that it’s unusable. Otherwise, the pen looks nice, though definitely on the less expensive side. I’m not a huge fan of the faux gold, but like the pen’s weight, it’s not a dealbreaker. At the end of the day I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and I can always use an extra pen.Overall, this is a nice notebook and pen set, well worth the price. I think of the pen as a free gift, something nice to go along with the quality notebook. If you’re in need of a nice notebook that will fit into any bag without taking up huge amounts of room, helps you keep your notes organized and has thick enough paper that you can actually use both sides of the page then this is a great choice. The addition of the pen is just the cherry on top.

The outer appearance of this journal is pleasant, a light lime colored hardcover with an embossed spine. The pages are an easy-viewing cream color, less heavy than most pages, but most inks I tried (gel, rollerball and fountain pen) did not feather or bleed through the pages. (A heavily saturated ink should be avoided, as there are indications that bleed-through could occur.) The pages are NOT perforated (a plus, for a permanent record) and are not refillable.Some features not found in other journals include BOTH an outer elastic-band closure AND a long ribbon placemarker. Another noteworthy feature is that each page top is preprinted to allow the writer to indicate the date and day of the week for every entry. The price is reasonable, compared to other similar journals or hardcover blank books.I did not use the pen which accompanied the book, which some customers would view as a plus. It is a very light (i.e., cheap plastic) pen with a no-name gel refill, and I prefer to use other writing instruments. I appreciate the sellers' inclusion of the pen, however, and it could be improved if the pen were designed to use a common, popular quality rollerball or gel refill, like a Schmidt 888 or Pilot G2. A change of the refill-type would earn this product a fifth star.

I got this journal specifically to use in a workshop that I did and it was perfect for keeping notes. It's very high quality and sturdy. I love the embossed design on the cover. It's a great red color. It's 8.5" x 5.7" and is great to throw in a bag or backpack without taking up much room. There were a good amount of pages and they were securely in there binding. There's a great attached ribbon to use as a bookmark which is very helpful to very quickly find the page you left on on. It has sturdy high quality elastic to keep it shut when traveling and a small elastic loop for the pen that was included. I was very excited that it came with a pen and the pen did not disappoint. It writes beautifully and smoothly. I am very happy with this journal and would definitely invest in another. I think it's as high quality as the famous name brand journal I recently got as a gift for my niece. Plus this one comes with a great pen!

There really isn't much to say about this notebook other than the quality is very good. The binding looks to be strong and the covers are a good thickness making it easy to write in when holding it. The paper is smooth and shows the typical bleedthrough of this type of notebook. The addition of the straps for keeping it closed and holding a pen are welcome additions as I am prone to just throwing it in a bag without checking. As for the pen itself, it isn't the best. It is light for its looks, but it writes well. It isn't a deal breaker for me as I have pens I prefer to use. All in all, this notebook serves its purpose well.

This little journal is very cute! The cover looks like embossed denim, and the pen is much more substantial than a typical pen that comes with a journal.It’s a good size (in dimensions and page count), which is a big deal to me. It needs to be big enough to be comfortable writing in and small enough to fit in my bag. This set is much better than expected! I would purchase this for myself or as a gift!
