My great uncle Captain.Charles Browning fought with the 129th Baluchis in France and was killed in German East Africa, so this book was a fascinating account of his final steps. Thatcher mentions my great uncle on numerous occasions and writes in a most informative narration with a dry sense of humour. Whilst there are numerous accounts of the war in the trenches, there are not many British accounts of the war in what is now Tanzania.Of great interest to me was that Captain Browning was killed about 30 miles from my place of birth !
