All you need to start to work with JAVA 8
I was very lucky the very same author sent me this book and I could read it, before it was released. Like other Madhu's books(i.e. What's new in Java 7), it is a book that goes to the point, what you need to start to work with Java 8, the differences with previous versions, examples... Forget about the 1000 pages books, when you need to work in a new version in a short time, they are not useful. However, this book gives you the necessary knowledge to work in Java 8 and develop your code easily. Thanks Madhu

Great book, I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't worked on Java Lambda's before. Very to the point, with just enough in-line code snippets that the book remains an easy read right to the last chapter. Madhu gives a glimpse of functional programming principles and then moves on straight to 'how to', as opposed to many authors who labour too much on the theory. I challenged myself to finish the book over the weekend - and I was able to finish it (along with typical weekend chores), so that's 5* to me too. ;)

For most professional devs its pretty difficult to find the time to read and stay up with the times in the midst of busy life, which is where Madhusudhan's books hit the mark - being brief, and to the point in their opening chapters, rounding out with just enough follow up detail. This one is a pretty easy read for any experienced java developer, slimmed down to give just enough to get you going with some of the most significant upgrades to the the java language in recent years. First reading was on an old school kindle, which I wouldn't recommend. For best results, suggest working through on your laptop with your IDE open. May need a little more the a weekend, but not much. Well done Mr Konda!

Very well written nice little book on Java 8 Lambdas
Very well written nice little book on Java 8 Lambdas. Lambdas and streams are trickier concepts to understand. Madhu has done a great job in explaining it in a concise and clear manner with lots of examples. I recommend this book to anyone starting to dip their toes into the exciting Java 8 world.

If you need a jumpstart book to hold your hand as you get into Java Lambda's this is a good quick and to the point book
This book is clear and well-written by my childhood friend, Madhusudhan. If you need a jumpstart book to hold your hand as you get into Java Lambda's this is a good quick and to the point book.It is interesting to read from the beginning to the end. This book enables you to think clearly about how you can do it. In-line code samples are useful.Madhu's unique writing style is extremely clear and engaging.I would recommend this book to anybody who is interested in learning the new features of lambda programming in Java 8.
