No ,Crystalline silicon dioxide can only cause diseases to humans by breathing into the lungs. Our products do not contain it.

will they still work if broken in half

Yes they will still draw moisture and work just fine. Just make sure after using you let them dry out completely before reusing. I set mine on a heating pad to dry them out quicker.
