Quiet shredder which is of good quality
I used to own a cross-cut shredder before this which was very loud and struggled when I tried to shred 5 sheets (advertised maximum sheet capacity). But it lasted me for some time as it had metal gears inside, so I just persisted with it. This week it finally gave up the ghost and I was bored fixing the bodges, so I gave in and bought this Fellows shredder. My first impression when I got this shredder was the sheer weight of it. There is no way this is moving on its own, especially if you use caster locks. I admit that the plastic does feel thinner than my last shredder, but it's certainly not so thin that it bends when you move the shredder. It's such a good shredder, I am not even going to take a star off for this.I am so glad that I have bought this shredder. While it is not silent, I cannot emphasise enough how quiet this machine runs - you know it's on running by the gentle hum, but it's certainly not loud enough to be heard throughout the entire house, unlike my old shredder. Most advertisers give some random number for the maximum capacity. Being weary of my new purchase, I gingerly shredded 5 sheets of 80/gsm A4 paper - the machine just chomped through them as though they weren't even there. I then tried another 10 sheets of the same paper and the machine managed with no issues whatsoever. I must admit I always shred below the advertised capacity, so I will probably never shred 10 sheets at a time unless I am doing a vast amount of shredding. The next surprise comes when you open the bin to check the size of pieces. I would say that each piece is roughly the size of 3-4 pieces of confetti. Compared to cross-cut shredding, this is definitely far more secure. The small pieces of shredding should mean that emptying will become less frequent. Anybody with a strip-cut or cross-cut shredder can relate to my constant pressing down on the shreddings so they can finish off the last few pages before emptying.Overall I am very pleased with my shredder. It is very quiet, good quality, does what it says on the box and is an improvement of what I already had.I do agree that it's a lot of money for a shredder. But I find you get what you pay for and if you buy cheap you buy twice.

Very Competent Shredder That Shreds Into Very Small Pieces
I had been after a new shredder for several months. However, so many had poor reviews in relation to run-times, size of cut and bin capacities. So when this Fellowes 62Mc came along at a great price, I decided to give it a go.This shredder is great. It deals with old credit cards with ease. Some reviews have stated the shredded size is too large, I have found the paper is shredded into very small pieces of approx. 11mm long X 3.5mm wide (actual measurement from a piece of my shredded paper). I am sure if you are a spy this might be too large. However, for most normal uses I think the size of shreddings is very small and I would pity anyone who had to sift through them to try and put the sheets back together!! The integral bin holds a great deal of shredded paper before emptying. Some reviews have stated this shredder is noisy, I realise this is very subjective, but I find this shredder to be very quiet. My previous shredder from Rexel lasted for years and was a great workhorse, but it was noisy and required frequent emptying of the bin, so this new shredder is a vast improvement. When I first received it I had a load of shredding to do (filled a large black dustbin liner) and it did not cut-out once. I do not overload the machine, putting through a max of approx. 4 sheets at a time.Do check out the dimensions as the unit is a fair size and weight. However, it is on wheels and the storage bin simply slides out for emptying. As with most shredders the bin tends to fill up in a slight peak under the cutting heads, a simple open of the storage bin give it a quick shake and all the shredded paper nicely settles.I have also purchased the shredder oil to try and keep it in good order.

Low noise. Strong. Small shredding
I've had quite a few home-office shredders and usually pay near £100 for mid-quality ones. This is the first that actually feels robust and didn't cost the earth.Rather than the whiney fast squeal of cheap shredders where the speed depends on the load, this has one slow methodical speed of high Torche with a low rumble. It just feels stronger as it it has time to chew through anything.Even the shredded bits are tiny! So what does it matter if the paper is tiny, its still the same mass of paper going in, isn't it? Well, actually, those small, shredded peices close up all the spaces into a densley packed natural pile at the bottom of the bin. With other models you would be taking the top off to press all the shredded bits down from time to time. We've all done it - anything to avoid the hassle of having to empty it too often, causing carpet snowstorms and bits everywhere. You don't have that problem. It holds more and takes longer to fill due to the small sizing and density. Plust, removing the bin just glides out smoothly and no long bits of paper to wait until you've removed the bin before falling inside the unit like other units - ugh! You even have a little window to see it filling!I don't find any difficulty with feeding paper. There is no awkeard lips. Just straightforward. The unit is no taller than most shredders, perhaps just a tiny bit bulkier and its on wheels which feels luxury when moving it out to empty.I wouldn't normally write a review about a shredder (of all things!) but I can tell this is a quality item. Periodically check the teeth for clogging and add machine oil to the teeth every so often and you should be good to go.
