The Lost Happy Endings

Bought for my class and they love it! Nice twist at the end....

It's beautifully illustrated and a very interesting story.Some reviewers recommend this for older children because it might be a bit scary at points I suppose. What I can say is that our 4 years old loves it, reads at bedtime and has never complained about it. It comes out time after time.Thoroughly recommend it!

I first saw this at a literacy curriculum training event for primary school governors and was very impressed by the engaging story telling together with its combination of imaginative language and illustration. I bought it for the school with two other Carol Ann Duffy illustrated children's books.

Another great book with amazing art work

A stunning picture book with rich language and imagery. I have used this to great effect with year 4, 5 and 6 children.

really great story ...the witch is quite scary so maybe not before bed. my 5 year old loved it and was captivated by the witch which was why it was a bit scary. I had to take the book down stairs with me.

I used this book to inspire Key Stage 2 writing. Very imaginative, beautiful language and illustrations.

It's a beautifully illustrated and imaginative story. Literally every brush-stroke is magical. Not for first time readers, it's more appropriate for independent readers with the desire to read something more challenging or for parents to read to younger children to inspire them to pick up books. The illustrations are worth a discussion with children of any age - they can really inspire lots of creativity.Jane Ray has quite a few other books all with the same detailed and rich imagery. She even writes for some of them too. Definitely worth gifting to an imaginative child.
