Huanyu 90mm Glass Petri Dish with Lids High Borosilicate Glass Petri Dishes Bacterial Culture Dishes for Lab Science Experiment (5pcs: 90mm)

These are NOT pyrex dishes. They are also not $12 each. This is the fourth set I’ve ordered and they are great. None have arrived broken and I’ve sterilized and reused them many times.

As other reviewers pointed out, the difference in size between the two pieces of the dish is probably bigger than you're used to--the smaller half can slide around a bit when the the petri dish is closed. It's really not a big deal and doesn't affect sterility since you should be incubating or storing them with the medium on top ("upside down") once it's set anyway. Because the bigger dish also has a lip that is longer than the entire height of the lower dish, they can be slightly tricky to pick up when you're pouring (but again, most of the time it won't matter because once it's "upside down," you just grab the bigger dish anyway). I have had them a few weeks and have broken two big halves by accidentally dropping them onto the floor a few feet (the smaller halves survived, maybe because they had the agar in them to absorb some of the energy). So they can be a little delicate, but overall it would probably be a waste to make a thicker petri dish. I have dry-heat sterilized these several times at 170 C for 1 hour with no problems at all. Overall, these pay for themselves over plastic petri dishes once you get about 5 uses out of them and other borosilicate petri dishes are a lot more expensive, so this is probably your best bet if you're a cheapskate like me. :)

I purchased a plastic garlic keeper with a hinged top. I coated the top of the garlic keeper with clear silicone caulking, then pressed natural river gravel into the silicone, covering the whole top. I then placed the petri dish (a perfect fit!) in the bottom of the garlic keeper, and filled it with water. This is a very nice water bowl for my little lizards in that tank, and algae doesn't grow in the water bowl because of the gravel covering. Looks like a nature cave.

All of them came in tacked. Packaged really well individually in 1/2 inch thick foam separated and protected on all sides. I dont care about the lids being a bit oversized, they also dont cost an arm and a leg for bolistic petri dishes for a hobby. Thank you.

When I received my set of five dishes, three of the ten total pieces were cracked which I wasn't surprised about. I emailed Huanyu via the email address they provided with my order, and they ended up offering me a full refund for the original purchase as long as I ordered another set of five. I was pleased with this because I needed more anyway and overall I feel it's a quality product. Seems to be one of the better deals for glass dishes of this type, and they'll definitely serve the needs of most people. I ordered them for the purpose of running cultures on agar and I would recommend these to anyone who is seeking dishes for the same purpose.

As an Ebay seller/buyer for 17 years, I've never seen such care in packaging Fragile Glass Items. Perfect size box, then box in box !! Each dish!!! bubble wrap, extra foam protection! ...WOW!!! UFB!! As for Dishes they have done well in first tests, lids may be a little loose but you never want ones too tight working under flow hood ... Nothing that para film/or micro-pore tape cant take care of. Will buy again. In a Nut Shell, If i were to package my Testicles and send them somewhere, these people are who I'm calling!! Don't Forget to laugh in these hard times my friends!!

A nice heavy glass set. Nothing was broken and the company was quick to communicate. Will definitely be getting more of these, they are great.

This is the 2nd time I order these petri dishes. Since they are made of glass, there is a chance that one of them breaks during shipping but I never had a single one break. They are well package and of very good quality.
