From A Music Supervisor - This is a great read!
I thought this book was very insightful and after 8 years in this business as a music supervisor, I was still able to learn something new! Thoughtful quotes from rockstar composers and a great overview of the composting process from beginning to end! It's also nice that they have a section in there about the business side of composing.

Fascinating! (But is NOT a book about composition)
It is surprisingly easy and pleasant to read. But it is NOT about teaching you MUSIC, like, how to orchestrate for a certain scene or a mood, bout about PRODUCTION, the function of music within a movie, a little bit of history of cinema, business and stuff! Strongly recommend to al those who aspire to be part of the world of Film Scoring!

How can I use the index with no page numbers?
I would like to clarify that this isn't a review of the book but a review of the format. Unfortunately, text search and Ctrl+F are disabled on my Kindle cloud reader desktop app. I am trying to look up topics, ie. Melody, and so I go to the index to get a page number. However, page numbers are removed and the reader only shows "locations". There is no mention of "melody" at location 136. In addition, the zoom function is not working properly. I should be able to zoom in on a two page spread to read a paragraph with ease. Get it together, Amazon.

Still worth it...
Overall this is still a good resource for some history of music in film and TV as well as a basic overview of copyright and publishing. However, the technology components, and the gendered language are overdue for an update.

It covers ALL aspects of the sound in film industry you need to know and the interviews are excellent first hand material of nea
At the beginning i could not put this book down. It covers ALL aspects of the sound in film industry you need to know and the interviews are excellent first hand material of nearly all the most successful holywood composers. I just wish they had John WIlliams in there too. THat would have made it the cherry on the top.

A very extensive book on the American scoring business for t.v and film. Every thing from technical to personal. No musical tips and trick though.

Great Book, but binding split within days
I am super careful with all my books--my paperbacks don't even get creases because I don't open them very wide. But this book's binding cracked and split, with pages coming loose within a couple days of reading. The contents of the book are great--it was used for a film scoring class in college.
