Canon's hood is too expensive compared to this and even though I haven't seen Canon's personally I must say this a very good alternative product. The quality is quite good (not perfect) and fits its purpose very well

This hood was purchased as a direct replacement to a lost Canon hood for my EF-S 17-85 so I was able to make a direct comparison. For the price, I wasn't expecting much, but the quality is right up there with Canon's. The hood has a similar shiny plastic finish, perhaps slightly shinier, with the furry inner to stop reflections. My only criticism which stops this being a 5* review is that it doesn't lock into place with quite the secure fit that the original part does. It's not loose by any means, but it frees up on the thread with a lot less turning force so may be more prone to coming off if knocked. Can't argue for the price, though.

Why do Canon charge so much for one piece of plastic? This compatible hood is half the price and appears to do the job just as well. It fits on a bayonet type quarter a turn mounting, and there's a reassuring click at the end of its travel so I'm sure in normal use it wont come off.I bought it for my 17-85 IS USM lens and it parks on the lens in reverse for storage if required, if the hood does fit other lenses I assume it would do the same.The initial reason for buying was was only really for 'show' to be honest, but having the hood I've realised that it's benefits are two fold; a small amount of protection for the lens glass from the weather but more importantly physical protection. Having a battery grip causes the body/lens to tip forward when put down; the hood acts as a cushion or shock absorber, especially if the largest part of the petals are on the top and bottom. The plastic is fairly flexible so I think it adds protection to my investment.A worthwhile addition to the camera bag. Leave it on all the time and this ten pound circle of plastic should make you sleep easy at night. Recommended.

Doesn't fit perfectly goes on at a slight angle. Not too bad in practice.

Fits great and at a fraction of the price of a genuine one, does exactly what its supposed to do. The only thing I have done is use some thin sticky backed black felt to line the inside of the lens hood to absorb more light and give more contrast.

Quality of plastic seems ok. Seems to be a bit fiddly to fit onto lens and when reversed is harder to attach. Both directions I do not have much confidence that it will not fall off. Will persevere for now and hope that I do not have to buy another make !

Fits well and does a great job , at a fraction of the cost of the rip off Canon version . Simply some plastic that keeps excess light from the lens .

It does the job and you can't argue at this price! The plastic is perhaps a bit thin and flimsy to tolerate any substantial abuse, but for casual day-to-day photography it's the right product for the job.

Comprato per l'obiettivo Canon 18-135 is stm, invogliato dal costo irrisorio confronto al prezzo proposto da Canon per il prodotto ufficiale. Ottimo, solido ed arrivato in anticipo. Assolutamente consigliato.

Para el precio que tiene me vale. Presenta como gotitas o motas de pintura algunas zonas, pero bueno. Si dura poco ya compraré uno de marca Canon original. Entrega muy rápida 1-2 días y entrega en perfectas condiciones, en una cajita y envuelto en papel vegetal.

El plástico del parasol es de buena calidad y encaja perfectmente al enroscar en el objetivo (18-135mm), tanto hacia adelante como hacia atrás, para guardar y proteger. Cuesta la mitad que el original de Canon y esa es la razón de comprar un accesorio no original, que no es estrictamente necesario. La diferencia no es solo que no lleva las siglas de la marca: carece del recubrimiento interno de terciopelo sintético para evitar reflejos. El plástico interior del modelo de Maxsima no lleva terciopelo, pero es suficientemente mate como para que no genere problemas. Pero que los interesados conozcan exactamente la diferencia con el original, una información que no viene mal saber antes de comprar.
