Bought as a review copy
So having been an avid user of the HCSB for a number of years, I was keen to review the update (csb) as a potential pew Bible translation. Since the offer for a review copy was only valid in the USA and I’m based in Scotland, I had to purchase a copy in order to get a sense of it in hand.On the translation itself, I would say that (thus far) I’m pleased with their philosophy of literal as a starting point with a willingness to offer a more dynamic rendering where the literal is obscure. I would always lean towards literal and therefore reduce the influence of a translation team’s interpretation of meaning. I do miss the inclusion of Yahweh over LORD and the reduction of slave in favour of servant. But, that said, it flows well, much better than my ESV and NKJV. I’ve passed it on to my leadership team to review further and will see what they think (although this will be a slow process as I only have one copy!).On the binding/paper/cover, all seem to be durable and hard-wearing and I expect that this would stand up to the rigours of congregational use.I do hope to get hold of the Black Premium Goatskin (possibly for Christmas if I can) and I can see this being one of my primary texts for preaching and study over the years ahead.

OK, but not as good as NLT or the Living Bible translations
I can't say this translation is for me personally (I'm 28 years of age as of writing this review) although it's supposed to be the most modern to date and aimed for easier reading. The sentence structures in place can go on with countless commas and ends up making no sense and there are various errors. Maybe English has been taught differently compared to when I was at school! I won't reduce the star rating to below a five because the message is still clear and God's Word is absolute. I'll stick with my NLT bible (although on the biblegateway website I do like the Living Bible translation also).Example error: I've found one slight mistake in which I've capitalised in Romans 1: 29 - 31 = They are filled with all unrighteousness, evil, greed, and wickedness. They are full of envy, murder, QUARRELS, deceit, and malice. They are GOSSIPS, slanderers, God-haters, arrogant, proud, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, senseless, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful.

Readable
Large print, words of Christ in black letters, dark font which is easy to read. This typeface at 10pt reads like a 9pt.

Smyth sewn and incredible quality for the price
Cannot go wrong with this. I had questions about the construction, but there are none anymore. Everything about this has a good feel, in 2020 CSB text, with where to turn section and table of weights and measures. It's a bit large for traveling, no maps, and ghosting is a problem in Psalms especially - but only because the print is so large and bold.

Great
I was nervous that the book would be too small for me, the size and letters, but i think its perfect. I'm able to read the letters perfectly and didnt see any damages as I looked at it. I would recommend this book is someone wants to buy it, but remember it does not have space in the size for notes. I think that it looks more clear in person compared to the photos
