Covers My Grays
Love this henna is natural and organic. It covers my grays but it leaves them dark red and the natural undertone of this henna color looks really pretty with the dark red grays you can barely see that they are dark red versus the other colors where you can still tell your grays are dark red. I actually use this with coffee, amla and warm water which I think helped darken up this henna. I let this cure for 30-45 minutes as well to make sure it got to its fullest potential. Washed my hair first with clarifying shampoo and no conditioner then let it sit in my hair for 4-6 hours and didn’t wash my hair until day 4 just to be sure it didn’t fade as quickly. Hopefully you found this review helpful!

Great value and works well, if you know what to expect with henna and indigo
Light Mountain produces the most affordable and natural henna/indigo based hair dyes that I have found. I love their products and have been using them for about 3 years now to play around with my hair color and to cover my grey hairs. That said, there are some things you should know in order to get this (or any henna hair dye) to work well for you:Damage to hair: these hair dyes will cause some breakage during the dying process, but will damage your hair far less than the usual hair dyes. My hair is very fine and fragile. I get about a hazelnut sized ball of shed hair when I rinse out the henna. But, my hair isn't dry, frizzy, or damaged from the dye itself, so I'm okay with it.Grey coverage: brown and black shades of "henna" products are actually more indigo, which doesn't cover greys well. The red shades have more henna and cover greys nicely. I end up alternating between using a redder color and using the chocolate color. Either that or I do a custom mix of 2 parts redder color to one part brownExact color: If you have an exact color in mind, this is not the product for you. If you want to go more red or darker, and are fine with the successive approximations approach to getting the color you want, you will probably be happy with this product. If you want to go lighter than your current hair color, this is definitely not the product for you.Other things to know:- You have to wait a month or two before using a traditional hair dye if you want to re-dye your hair- The color can change significantly over the first 2-3 days as the color develops and right after your first shampoo- This isn't permanent. The color gradually fades over the course of 2-3 months- You will smell "grassy" for a 3 -5 days. I think it smells like oolong tea myself.- This can change your hair texture, at least for the first couple weeks. My hair feels thicker and is a little less wavy. If you have curls, you may find that the curls relax a bit.

Love it
Love this product. I'm not dying to get rid of my grays but they're there. This dye does not cover them. No biggie. I don't mind. I mostly just want my brown hair to be a little darker and my tips to match my roots. My hair naturally tends to grow out auburn towards the tips and this makes it all one shade. It is a process and an interesting smell but worth it. I took another user's advice and added 1 tsp salt to the recipe and left it on about 2 hours (my second time around) and it stayed very cool and dark. Used coconut oil to protect my skin. 👍

Great product BUT in my opinion
Great product it dose but it is supposed to, my only complaint is how messy it is. It evened out my hair tone but did not cover my grays.

My holy grail color!
I love this henna and have been using it for over a year now! Now, how I mix it. A one step brown henna can be tricky because normally the henna needs to cure to have the best dye release and the indigo only deposits color for a short time in comparison to the henna. The best way I have found to keep my cool tone is to mix with very warm water; I don't add any vinegar or lemon juice because the indigo does not like it. I do add 1/2 tsp of salt to aid the indigo. I mix the water, salt, and henna mix together and let it cure for 10 minutes before I apply. I leave on 2 hours only because after that the indigo stops depositing color...and I prefer my hair super cool toned. If you are wanting a slightly warmer color you can either let the mix cure longer before applying or keep the mix on your head longer. Now that my length is the color I prefer, I only apply to my roots every month. About every 4 months I mix up a gloss with 4TBS henna mix and 1 cup conditioner and let it sit for 2hrs. This keeps my hair glossy. Most henna mixtures freeze well if you make up too much, but please don't freee this one once mixed up. The indigo, once mixed with water expires quickly and you will not get the color you want.

New color!
I've been using this product successfully for 40 years and love it! But I particularly love this new "dark chocolate" color. It's very beautiful!
