About the Author Alianne is an avid lover of stories of all kinds. Having grown up with fairy tales in a place where it almost seemed they were real, it was no surprise when she began making up her own stories. She loves books, music, hiking, and archery, and won’t shy away from travel and zip lining. Alianne graduated with a business degree and when she’s not off in the land of fantasy, she lives in California.

After the apocolypse - maybe this?
This is one of those 'make you think' tales, loosely based on the Nazi genetic experimentation of WW2, but brought into the future now, if such a time can exist. It begins as a Hmm - yes, but develops into a 'can't put it down'.I won't give the plot away, but it certainly deserves a read.Go on, you know you want to!

Excellent!
Wow! I don't even know where to start with this review. I guess I can start by saying I loved it. Ms. Donnelly has done a fine job building a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world that shares several themes common to the genre (zombie-like creatures, evil megalomaniacs who maintain control of their followers by using brutal henchmen, pockets of civilization struggling to survive in a wasteland)but also introduces new themes. Scientists worked covertly for years to create a super race that could be used as weapons, but their creations got out of hand. Some developed to become converts, mindless super fiends who craved meat and blood to eat. Others became Wolfen, stronger and faster than humans, who healed almost instantly from any wound.I loved Sinna, heroine who has survived in spite of having a soft heart. There is an sort of anti-heroine, who I found complex and fascinating. Kudos to Ms. Donnelly for making her believable and appealing even though she has done some despicable things.I wouldn't call this light reading. There is romance in it, and those relationships are important to the story, but this is not strictly a romance. It is a meaty fantasy story that gripped me. I started it last night and naturally read way past my bedtime. It is a lengthy work, so I did not finish it before I finally forced myself to go to bed. Today it was hard for me to focus on work. I barely bothered to eat lunch in favor of reading. Almost the minute I punched out I was back to reading. If you enjoy end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it stories, I highly recommend Wolfen.

Not quite dystopian, not paranormal romance, and not questing story, but the best of all three.
Not my normal read, and yet I still enjoyed the story. The dystopian aspects were there without either the info dump of who did what to cause the collapse, nor the “let’s ignore the past, to shorten the story,” one can often find in dystopian novels. WOLFEN gives details but doesn’t wallow in them.I’m not much of a fan of romance, let alone paranormal romance, however, again WOLFEN, set ups the interest without falling into a dark agnsty pit of romantic longing, misunderstanding, overwrought emotional scenes, histrionics, and hormone induced stupidity. As for the questing aspect this is where I think the story is best, there is a reason for each decision, for the quest to occur and the why and how the events unfold. Even better, the story is not just about a road trip, but blends in the romance and dystopian angles together. It is through this blending and the synergy that arises from the combination that makes WOLFEN enjoyable.

Such an enjoyable, well written book!
Excellent world building and character development. A constant string of tension persists from the first page to the last as the reader is brought into the dangerous post-apocalyptic world of the main characters. This book is more than just a cut above it's genre peers. It is extremely well written. The story is cohesive and enthralling and the editing is flawless. A rare find.

Unique twist on Wolves
This is not your typical wolf/shifter story. It's dark and light and soft and hard. It's a bleak future of what life has become when man tries to play God. Of course experimenting gets out of hand and out of control. Mutations gone wrong far out number the mutations gone right!Mankind has been decimated and no longer sits at the top of the food chain. Enter Wolfen, the would be protectors, turned slaves. They are all that stands in the way of man's extinction. This is a fast paced, action packed ringer! I couldn't put it down and finished it in a day. The dynamics between the brothers and their pack are very intriguing. Let's hope there is a sequel in the works!

Solid four stars!
This book was a pleasure read. Love the content, characters, plot, and the authors ability to create an amazing landscape. That said, this is not a five star book. While all the above are true, the story has some serious lag about half way through. The author hops around from character to character, storyline to storyline, and I love books that do, but at one point, I thought she was going to leave us hanging. I'm horrible at writing reviews. The book is a great read. Just not five stars.
