Perfect fit for 1850’s doors.
I purchased two of these for installation in two historic doors found and refurbished during the restoration of an 1850’s farmhouse. Ordered other parts, knobs, plates etc. from a shop in Quebec. The shaft of the knobs were too big to work in the mortise but with some filing they fit and the mechanism works smoothly & looks original. Great quality for price.

Perfect replacement
The door to my bathroom was original to my home and is the only one in it with a cassette style door lock. This one not only looks good but is durable and fits a door that opens left and one that opens to the right. Now to teach my handyman the PROPER way to install, LOL! BTW installation to me appears easy as can be, and is easy, but not if you don't pay attention, he installed it upside down failing to realize you can flip the striker to fit either door position. Great item wish I had more doors in the house that this fit!

A little grease goes a long way
This was exactly what I needed to replace our latch that broke. A couple of issues with this one though. When reversing the latch, the plate it screws to needed to be bent slightly to make the latch fit. I also needed to open it up and grease it. Once I did that, it worked great!

smaller then the ones i have from the 1930's
like the locks i have a house built in 1929 with church keys old locks the key's have been gone for yearsi have replaced two of the locks so far the new locks are about 1" to 1 1/2" smaller in height so i had to fill in the lock hole in the door to make lock set to work, other wise they work good not old heavy cast like the old ones , but still do there job locking and unlocking the doors
