Truly perfectly imperfect
Kit comes with everything your needs and while there is a learning curve for sure, the instructions are thorough and well written. They only give you one pair of gloves, which I hot glue on so then had to switch to some we had. So if you’re messy / new might be good to have backup. Also, it was helpful to have another person to help read and fetch things as I worked, so it was a good couple activity. Overall very pleased with our perfectly imperfect mug.

Adorable, great instructions
Love this, it’s a gift worthy presentation and all the details are charming. I’m using it to repair items broken in a move, it’s not an easy project but this makes it more fun.

Fun and nice
I did find the gold color persuasive. Or at least inviting. After a few uses, I decided to not fill the cracks completely flush with the surface, but rather to leave a crevice. As the glue hardens, I add the gold or silver powder into the crevice. Although this results in a finer line of repair, I find the results to say more about what happened than if I had tried to fill the crevice completely.

Easy to use. Instructions decent
This was easy enough to use and the instructions were decent. I wish they didn't expect you to pay more money if you want to watch their "class" on how to use the product though.

Good stuff, takes some practice, but not at all food safe
Pretty good stuff, but it's not food safe as it's advertised to be. If you're familiar with epoxy you can get great results. The directions aren't great, if you follow them you'll get a blobby bulge coming out of the crack which you're then supposed to dust glitter on. I used a good amount of acetone to get a clean result and I pressed the gold dust into the crack before it hardened for a really vibrant pop.

Follow the directions for a great finish.
Read all the directions completely first. This kit worked beautifully. There is one spot i let the material pool to repair the damaged glaze. I've used this mug to make espresso for decades, and now I still can.

Great purchase
Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Lacquerware is a longstanding tradition in Japan, at some point it may have been combined with maki-e as a replacement for other ceramic repair techniques. I love this philosophy. I even fixed a mirror with this .

Great kit to repair a broken vase
It was not that difficult to use. You do need to take your time and follow the instructions. The final repair looks great.
