Over the years, I’ve tried numerous headgear brands, but I must admit, this one stands out as the best. Here are a few reasons why:1. Unlike other velcro brands, the snap securely stays in place without coming off easily.2. The strap doesn’t leave uncomfortable ‘burn marks’ under your chin, a common issue with other brands.3. The ear-guards themselves are not overly protrusive, which had been bothersome for some of my workout partners, especially in jiu-jitsu.4. They have exceptional durability and longevity.5. They provide excellent stability and stay firmly in place during use.

At 36 years old and 220 pounds, I rely on this headgear for my Jiu Jitsu sessions, especially given my larger head size. These headgear are exceptionally comfortable, with straps that avoid any pinching or itching sensations. The soft cups provide a gentle feel against both my head and my grappling partner, while still offering robust protection with their hard shell. Despite being bald, I never have to worry about slippage, and the Velcro closure remains irritation-free during intense grappling. It’s a remarkably secure fit, far superior to the old Asics ear guards I used before.

I would have my son use this as a back up for practice but not my first choice to keep him protected and definitely not during a meet. The Velcro just isn’t strong enough to withstand all of the pulling and rubbing that comes with wrestling. Although there are multiple Velcro areas, it still doesn’t hold 100% of the time.
