Rebuilding the band - a steady if not spetacular start
Resolver is the first album from the new Veruca Salt lineup. "American Thighs" was essentially introspective with the occasional little rocker. "Eight Arms to Hold You" slammed into your senses from the word go and looked set to launch the band into the top bracket.Sadly, since then there have been personnel changes, with Resolver being the first effort from the new lineup.More "Thighs" in nature than "Eight", Resolver is in some ways a mix of the two. There is an obvious shedding of bitterness in the lyrics - aimed towards a certain former vocalist perhaps? The overall result is erratic. Sometimes they get it very right, other tracks are, frankly, a bit of a mess and not up to the high standard which the band had established for themselves in the previous two albums.Overall, not a bad start for the new lineup, but lets hope the next one sees a return to the more driven, focussed effort produced on "Eight Arms"

Infectuous groovy grungy pop, love it.
This is the album that restored my faith in guitar music, and proved that grunge isn't dead. The catchiest guitar riffs, the grooviest drumming, the most emotional singing and lyrics (without sounding too whiny). It's a much darker affair than the previous two Veruca Salt albums, there's a lot of bitterness towards an ex-lover in the lyrics. Occasionally they don't quite get it right or there's a lyric that grates, but most of the time they do and when they do it's incredible. This is a great album, a must for any rock fan.

The New Veruca Salt...
While the new line-up changes the style of the band, the music is classic Veruca Salt. The vocals aren't as rich and layered without Nina Gordon, but this doesn't really affect it. There are some heavy rock songs like "Born Entertainer", "Officially Dead", "Hellraiser" right alongside some of the most beautifully sad almost-ballads such as "Imperfectly", "Disconnected" and "The Same Person". Basically, it has everything, and there are no weak tracks. Louise Post has silenced her critics with a very strong album. The band may have changed their image a bit (check out that Hole-style photo shoot on the inside cover!), but this is an album that will please any fan, and probably gain them a few more.

The best album of 2000
This album is undoubtedly the best that's released this year. Louise Posts' voice is more beautiful than ever, especially on "Imperfectly" where she sings with so much feeling. Overall the album is better than I expected, which is quite a compliment, because I always have very very high expectations if anything has the name Veruca Salt on it.

VS 2000 Rocks!
Veruca Salt is back, Louder and Better than ever! Resolver will rock you, Louise Post has certainly brought Veruca Salt back with this awesome album. The lyrics are from her heart and expiriences. If you liked Eight Arms to hold you, Resolver will take you Away. I highly recommend this album! :)
