worked perfect, easy to swap
i ended up using the release button, spring and key from my oem key along with the circuit board and battery. but it works perfectly and the buttons aren't all torn up. I saw video's on youtube about needing to move the transponder chip from old to new but my 2011 Kia Soul key didnt have a transponder chip to move.

Worked well for a 2012 Kia Rio 5.
I purchased this key fob shell for a 2012 Kia Rio 5 (hatchback) because buttons of the original had completely cracked & disintegrated away. The Dealership wanted $200 for a new fob (they don't offer shell cases). There are no instructions, but it was pretty easy to figure out how to put the guts of the original into the new case. The old case must be prised open with much effort, while the new case easily snaps back together (and comes with a little screw to secure it closed). I used the original key blade, so I did not need to have the new key cut. Actually, I had to use the whole button/spring/key blade assembly from the original to use the original key blade because the old key does not fit into the new button mechanism. This approach worked perfectly for my application. The original and replacement fob cases look nearly identical. The new case has buttons that seem to "float" a bit more than the original. Perhaps, then, the buttons on this replacement will last longer.

Excellent product, but you're still gonna need a Dremel and some glue to do it up right.
So the product itself is great and looks great, Once I got the old broken fob apart (that was most of the challenge), it was super easy to swap the chip and all into this. Only thing is you have to use a Dremel or something to grind away little parts of the OEM key blade so that the new pin will slip through the hole and secure the old one in place in the new shell (unless you have Kia cut you a new blade too). And once all the parts are together, I would highly recommend securing the two halves together with some good adhesive. They SEEM like they snap together tight, but I replaced both fobs and within a month they both popped back open on my girlfriend spilling the parts.

Color me impressed!
I wasn't sure how well these would work considering the dealership price from the website; but for the price i jumped on it. soon as i got them i went to work on taking apart my spare key that had the same damage as my original. i used ring snap pliers to pry open the key, and put in the board on the new one. i placed it on the bottom piece that holds the battery but it didn't line up with the notches.. my heart sank.. i was upset it didn't fit... but checking everything i set it on the top piece to make sure the buttons at least lined up and maybe i could cut some of the plastic.. that's when the board fit in place. i felt so stupid, i put everything together pressed the buttons and it worked! i was able to use all the stock parts on the new keys.. be sure to snag the rubber seal for the battery door since the new ones won't have any. I used this video to get an idea what i was getting into and what to look for. there's a sensor deal he talks about in the video those seem to only be on keyless ignition systems because mine did not have the part he was talking about.. hope this helps!

Check the key blade!!!! Update! Too cheap, comes apart while turning
Update!! After 2 uses the fob exploded open. It came open because it doesn’t lock well together and this is after putting epoxy on it! -5 stars if possibleMake sure you look at the picture of the key blade! I skimmed past it trusting that their chart was accurate and came to find out the key blade was different. I had to modify it to make it work by using more than just the computer chip but it sure would have been easier to just have to correct thing to begin with. I also had to apoxy a small section because it doesn’t lock together very well and kept coming apart while turning it in the ignition. Someone else sells the correct case and key blade but I’m not going to bother with it now that I have it working.

If your fob is glued
The 2012 kia fob I have is glued together. To get the electronics module out of it intact is difficult if not impossible. Remove the Kia emblem from the back of your fob. If you see a a hole and a screw your in luck, you have rev a, and can easily swap the electronics into this new rev a housing. You also need to switch out the key, not easy.If your GLUED, like me, read on.In most cases all you really need is the rubber case switch cover insert. Carefully remove the old one from your fob. Be sure to completely clean out the groove. Do not try to remove the "centering piece", its glued to.Now remove the rubber switch cover from the new rev a fob. It comes off easily but be careful. If you cut the rubber your glued.Install this on your old fob. It takes patience and some small, not sharp tools. I found doing the final press edges into the grooves is easier using a bit of paper towel. This process also avoids the need to swap the spring loaded key. This item is obliviously

It works, but it doesn't include a satchel.
The shell works and fits. It just doesn't include the satchel which is false advertising because you can clearly see one in the product picture.

Worked for me
I had two worn out KIA soul 2011 key fobs that were so worn out on the key pads that I had to use a toothpick to unlock my car. The original key fob shell was in good condition. The ignition key, lock, alarm, and panic mechanism worked just fine but the keypad was destroyed. I bought two of these and watched a youtube video on how to replace the rubber keypad and frame and voila! Just like new! Saved me tons of money going to dealer or locksmith!
