Q: Is this dishwasher safe? It says it is but has someone tried it?

It says it is but mine turned black after one round in our Miele dishwasher with a dishwasher tab. Worse yet the black stuff is coming off. So disappointed! I have to return it.

Q: What is the overall length including the handle of the 84 ounce scoop

Overall Length: 15", Scoop: 11.5".

Q: This turned gray when I washed it?

That's common among aluminum products. They should never be washing in a dishwasher, by hand should be OK like the unclad aluminium pots and pans back in the bad old days.
