This was everything I wanted to read on a Thursday night! My favorite kind of monsters ( I mean hello Dragon!!) Angst, passion and great old fashioned storytelling! Lillian Lark has developed a beautifully written series in Monstrous Mates. The world building is intricate and well done and the characters have substance and chemistry. In this book Katarina a young woman in and out of foster care her whole life discovers their is something special about her self. In an attempt to find out as a teen she ends up with some unsavory characters that "help" and "take care" of her by teaching her to become a thief. Over time she realizes that stealing is not a life she wants and does much to give back and pay restitution. Until she's asked as a favor to do one more job. This job has her stealing from the biggest bad their is. Kalos is a dragon shifter he has a turbulent past he's lost the people he loves most in the world and has shut himself off from feeling. New enemies want what is his and to top it off a thief has tried to take from his hoard. The worst part about everything is that the thief has totally captivated his inner dragon. One is in full denial the other just wants and needs a place to belong. Can they find away to put their pasts behind them and open their hearts to each other or will they let others tear them apart? Really love the story, the characters, and the way the story progressed. FMC wasn’t annoying or the type to run and get herself into unnecessary trouble all the time. MMC had really good and mostly realistic character development. Very surprised with how much I loved this book. I will def be reading more of her books

Everyone loves dragons. Quite a lot of us love the idea of dragon mating in a story. So, when I sat down to read this I fully expected to like it. But I ended up LOVING IT.The magic is well done, fleshed out fully and believable. I have always felt that just because a story is sci-fi or fantasy or romantasy that there has to be some part of the story that is believable.This writer does a beautiful job balancing the magic, the dragons and other paranormal creatures and incorporating their world into ours.There’s so many well loved tropes so there’s something for everyone. The story is well done and moves along at a great pace. The character development is through and the smut is just the right amount of heat. Looking forward to more books by Lillian Lark.

This may be one of my new favorites. The story was genuinely good. And the spicy level... 🥵🥵💞 Yes! The characters are lovely and I wish I could explore more of this world. I don't feel so alone anymore seeing others enjoy what I do. 😅😜 Please give this a read. You won't regret it.

Not gonna lie Katarina annoyed me so much literally up until the last 20-30% of the book, I couldn't get through much of her inner dialogue without rolling my eyes but knowing what happens makes her thoughts and actions make a little more sense. I loved Kalos not a single bad thing to say about him. I also loved how real this story felt, the struggles and emotions were very grounded and real, it didn't feel like a book about a dragon and his mate but two human beings trying to find love. Overall it was a nice read.

I enjoyed reading this story about Katarina and Kalos (dragon shifter). Now I thought Katarina was just a human woman who had a strange ability to move thru protective wards paranormals used to protect their homes. Later in the book, Kalos called her a witch. They met when Katarina agreed to steal something from Kalos' hoard as a favor to a friend. This just happened to be during Kalos' heat. The story takes off from there.Both main characters were likeable, as were the secondary ones. The sex was hot. Both had prior baggage to work through in order to get their HEA. I thought the book was a little too long, that's just me though. I liked that there were two epilogues, the last one, I believe, showing the birth of their child. If I remember correctly, there were only a few grammatical errors.

This has to be the best erotic fiction I've ever read, in more ways than one... The main character is so relatable to me, and the emotions and thoughts described by both main characters are so real. The story is exceedingly compelling and well-written. The intelligence of the author shows. The sex and development of love between the characters is satisfying and comforting. The story gave me hope for a better future for myself and showed me some things I want and didn't know I wanted. Descriptive language helped me "see" the scenes clearly in my head, including the bathhouse, dome, and dragon fire paintings. It made me want to paint them! LOLHuge kudos to this author. I will be reading more of this series.

10/10 would recommend. There’s an amazing and unique story line. Amazing character building and the world building just accumulates as you read this series. I love that each book leads into the next and you find out more and more about people in this world even when the book is focused on a certain couple. This one is just so swoon worthy. The MMC is big bad and totally emotionally unavailable. I do feel like I had a hard time with him because there is some serious verbal abuse albeit brief but it’s explained why it happens but I still struggled with, is that really ok? It does end in an HEA and gives you super happy feels in the end. My heart hurts for the FMCs story.

I have always loved dragons, and I especially loved Kalos whenever he showed up in the world of Lillian Lark. So I was extra pleased with him finding love and having an HEA! This is an emotional, loving book about grief and healing, learning to change and always coming back to those you love. And it's sexy AF. For any monster girlies out there, this is a lovely book to go to! Personally I find the world of Lillian Lark is wonderful place to slip into when I need a comfort, sexy, adventurous or heartfelt read.

… I wouldn’t recommend this book. It was a very simple read. It is like a Christian Grey is trying to be a dragon kinda.Also, the mighty ANCIENT Kalos (spoilers incoming) had a child named “Luke”??

Esse livro veio com uma história com um pano de fundo com muita profundidade, com personagens muito bem construídos e complexos. Foi muito emocionante acompanhar a jornada do Kalos porque deu para perceber o quanto foi difícil para ele ultrapassar os próprios limites e superar todo aquele sofrimento. A Katarina tem uma personalidade muito sensível e é difícil não ter empatia com o desejo dela de ser aceita e ser amada. Adorei os personagens secundários, estou louca pra ver o livro do Ben e amei ver a Rose e o Gideon novamente. Nota 10!

Simply put it is absolutely amazing. However please check the contents for your own discretion because they might not be everyone's cup of tea 😉
